I was wondering.. how can I create a shortcut on my desktop that will run a command? what I want is basically a shortcut to /usr/games/psx4m -runcdbios /home/etc/etc/whatever.bin.

this should be doable, no?

Please excuse me, but DO I ask a wrong question?

I installed 4.1 from Smokus link. I get a segmentation fault when I want to run any game (that worked on 3.9)

But I don't know where to get a bios separately and where to put it in MyDocs. I asked twice already, but no one answered.

DO I REALLY HAVE TO READ 1.282 previous posts to find out?! Really no one else understand what I am asking?

Excuse my frustration but if I really want to test a new version and I didn't find any additional configuration steps beside installing it.
Maybe there is a guide or how to that I missed?

do a search for SCPH1001.BIN, should be 512kb in size.

dont remember where I got it, but this should get you somewhere with a little detectivework ;) .

Put it in MyDocs, and youre good to go.

Nobody can give you a direct link since the bios are extremely illegal. They are pretty easy to find by just doing this. Then just copy them to your MyDocs (not to any folder in there, just MyDocs) and you are ready to go.

I'm starting to feel really thick here, but when I run psx4m --runcd or psx4m --runcdbios on my .bin or .iso games it always just goes to the Playstation control screen where

I can access Memory Card management or the CD Player. It never actually loads the game.

Am I missing something stupid here?

I just found a solution for the problem. Just change from automatic to manual shift. Than it works. up shift with R2 and down shift with L2.
I have just bought a Toyota Sprinter and already have got the B licence :D

Okay, thick head here again.

I've got my scph1001.bin bios in /home/user/MyDocs/

I'm running:

psx4m -runcd <game .iso>
and also trying
psx4m -runcdbios <game .iso>

What I get each time is the Opening Sony logo animation and music (I get both the Sony Computer Entertainment logo AND the Playstation logo screens), but then just blackness.

top still shows that psx4m is running and taking about 70% of my CPU during this black screen time, but no game is ever displayed or heard.

These are .iso games that worked fine with the same BIOS file under psx4all.....

Hmm is it only for me, but save feature doesn't seem to work?
When I save in game and reset emulator save just disappears :(

Strange, but this problem appears on first memory slot. Second one works just fine :rolleyes:
Fixed it by deleting first memory card file :p Now saves works on both slots.

DEFINITE increase all of the games that didnt work before show huge improvement ( metal slug x , megaman 6 , and spf )

Diablo runs slow but it's perfect without glitch same as gran turismo and spyro. Great work smoku!

Awww just tried metal slug and it runs and loads perfectly - until you choose a player and then boom blackscreen hang. ARGHH,.

Yeah, my commands go:

/usr/games/psx4m -runcd /home/user/MyDocs/Games/PSX/re2.iso

So far I've tried warhawk, Resident Evil2, and Pepsiman. All of these .iso games worked under the same BIOS just fine with psx4all. Strange....

Thank but I had to learn the hard way ;) it may be worth knowing however that using popstation gui one can easily convert eboots to ISO's, well at least I think you can... I tried final Doom and it don't work but i assume is the game and not my iso/pbp file..

Did you manage to enter a race/license test? If so, how and which version are you using (PAL/NTSC)

I've used the Arcade CD (PAL) and just started a race. (frameskip 8) The only problem I see is (in GT 1 and 2), that the opponents are extremly slow. Does someone know why?

Edit: I've just tried the Gran Turismo Mode CD and I get the same problem as you no race or license starts. Sorry. Maybe it works after the next update.

The usual "It's out when it's ready" ;)

I released the CLI one of two reasons:
- to not keep you waiting for something that is already running nicely
- either way I am moving to CLI process as a backend for GUI process architecture, so there's no point in delaying the part 1/2

As for the GUI I've been working simultaneously on a frontend for PSX4ALL, UAE4ALL and CPS2EMU, which are VERY similar.
I decided to join them all in one frontend-generator project, that would allow easy creation of even more frontends :D
And I have the basics running already.

Quick question as this thread is pretty big and I have been having trouble finding an answer anywhere.

Is PCX4M the latest and greatest PSX emu? I tried one when I first got the N900 and it didn't perform great so was waiting until progress had been made. It appears to have done now so was going to test again but not sure whether I should be going for PSX4ALL or PSX4M.

I understand PSX4M doesn't have a GUI but I can handle that if it is better than PSX4ALL
