Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
Hi Smokku. A UI like the one in PCSX is quite good.
I found the following problems with the current release: 1. It asks you to set the controls in the beginning. I made the arrow keys act as left/right/up/down. When configuring graphics options, pressing left (to reduce a number), takes you out of the graphics menu. Didn't happen with the first release. I tried deleting the config file so it asks me to set the keys again but same result. 2. I can't get any games to work. i tried with BIOS and without BIOS. With frameskip/without etc. Games like Tekken 2 start but have artifacts in gameplay. Games like Pro Evolution Soccer used to start (although a bit slow) in the first release with the help of a BIOS file. Now they crash on start. So far this is what I found. However you're making very good progress. I will surely donate when Metal Slug X, Pro Evolution Soccer, any car game (pref gran turismo 1 or 2), and Tekken 3 run at acceptable speeds. Thank you for your work. Wish I could help :/ |

Only works that way for me. I also have the keys bug. When you press 'left' it's like you are press the 'start' button and 'up' is like it takes you back to the emulator menu. hope this helps.:) |
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
What is the current stability and the frame rate of this app right now Smoku? Can you get the frame rate to almost native?
|
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
Is there a way to store the bios files in a seperate folder instead of the MyDocs folder?
|

I tried everything off..still with artifacts. Didn't have them in first release (unless you raise the frameskip) |

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
It runs really smoothly on the 3G/3GS iPhones.
Was playing FF VII on it just the other night. |
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
I do not know if you need to have bios to run games on this emulator, and if the bios were needed where they go ...
Which images of the games are supported? for example: bin, iso, nrg (proprietary format blech!)... I understand that questions are noob but I have not found an answer anywhere ^ ^ |
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
this emulator runs games alot better than pcsx-m .

This i think is because PCSX-M CPU is set to interpreter mode. Both have their plus points. |
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
Its probably just me but, Ive tried a couple of games (Driver and Wipeout) and I always get the same sort of problem, Driver freezes on the main screen and Wipeout doesnt even load, just says loading bios then crashes. Ive put the scph 1001 file in the same folder, anybody tell me what Im doing wrong?

First browse to the location of the file. If you put it in the default folder when connected to Mass Storage, it will be in /home/user/MyDocs So: cd /home/user/MyDocs/ mv SCPH1001.bin /home/user/ I am using SCPH1001.bin as an example. write the name of your bios file. And linux is case sensitive. |
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
or just use a file manager like GPE and copy paste the files

Yep: Games (2D shooters) that are playable on PSX4ALL are one frame per second slideshows on pcsx. Perhaps PCSX will get better with updates? Both would get a huge lift with GPU assist. Still, I am happy that Raiden 1 and 2 play ok on PSX4ALL. I was doubting at first, but I think with CD audio off, this emu could play Dead or Alive decently if the GPU could help out. |
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
Wow how ******ed can i be and this is making me so frustrated that i cant even copy files to another directory, i just installed GDE File manager and still cant even work out how to copy files, all i can do is highlight the files i need and thats it, crt d i though copied but it dont come up saying anything, can anyone help me please :(

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
Great Emulator...
I think now we need an Over-Clocking software... ;) But really,,, Smoku YOU R THE MAN!!! |
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition

No not really. It is quite a bad idea. The CPU already gets really hot as it is..with over clocking you are just asking it to destroy itself. Plus the battery will be drained quicker. AND over clocking almost always reduces stability. |
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
Man i know, i was joking
Optimizing & Improving the emulator is the right way to go :) |
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
i think that psx4all is not as good as pcsx-m! even if it's a bit fast! i have many bugs with games! whynot try to make the files of psx4all work with pcsx-m or tweak a bit the configuration files! only if it's possible of course!

2. Copy the bios file to the mmc1 (memory card- pick any current directory) 3. In the GPE menu, locate the bios file you put in on the memory card and copy it. 4. Locate the mydocs directory (as defined in the thread) using GPE's directory interface and paste it there. The next time you run the emu, it should say the bios has been loaded and the emu will boot correctly. UPDATE: How do you control the frameskip options and what are the ratios? Example- 0/1 = no frame skip? 15/17 = 12% or 88% skip? |
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
@lucas77
scph1001 was in /mydocs so i wanted to move it to /home/user I opened xterm I typed: mv /home/user/Mydocs/scph1001.bin /home/user/ then press return note upper case on the M on Mydocs and any other files which have capitals in that you want to move or look into - xterm is case sensitive another tip - after every / press Tab twice on the screen and it will bring up what options are available in that particular folder or path. also if you type /h press tab once it will bring up /home/ and this will work with anything as long as its a valid path or folder Then if you want to check that it moved correctly in Xterm type: /home/user/ then press Tab twice above the command line it will show you what is in /home/user/ and you should see the file that you have just moved. NOTE I am still learnig alot about command line in xterm so if i have made any mistakes please let me know. |
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
Ive tried my psx roms on pcsx and they work, admittedly at about 3fps but for some reason even wipeout doesnt work, its a bin file is that y?
|
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
@scuddy bin files are what u need iirc that is the correct format

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
Yeah well thats where i orginally had them but somone said they now have to go into users/ not mydocs which is n900 drive file manager part
|
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
Guess what! if u look in that image i posted you will notice the .BIN is in capitals i just renamed one file to .bin without caps and what do u know it says bios loaded! wtf
|
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
i think its just loadin the bios though because after the bios loads you know the playstation white screen then the black PS logo, it crashes just after that any ideas on that?
|
Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition
I might be stupid, but read 4-5 pages of the discussion and did not find any information on how to actually save a game rather than few vague mentions about memory card files. :)
If anyone would nudge me to the right direction I'd be quite happy. FF7 working so-so, but enough for me :) GJ! |
