Installing PSX4All took only 5 minutes, only had to copy the BIOS and it worked :o

I tested so far:

- Spyro 3 (Working quite fine, just the sound is a bit laggy)
- Diablo 1 (Works very fine, but its sadly crashing with strange blue spikes once you enter the dungeon. May Smoku can have a look at it? The whole game is working good except that)

Confirmed, also games with issues will work with the alternate BIOS. Diablo works for example fine with the SCPH5702.bin, no more crashes in instances and even the videos / sound plays smooth!

I haven't tried any games myself, but planning to do it soon.

I compiled this list (Mostly copy & paste from the thread) for the games.
It is a mess, but at least you can look for your game there, and if you want more info, then look in the thread.

It would be nice if it is updated avery now and then, but I don't think I'll be able to do it.

Interesting problem, using the cycle at 4 and frameskip at 4/5:

with 1001 bios: everything works except accessing the memory card (via title screen or in-game)

with HLE bios: game crashes zooming in on the first village after the giant wall o' text. Memory cards work properly. Performance, based on the title sequence, seems much worse despite equivalent framerate.

Any ideas?

Looking for a decent game to screw around with with my PS3 controller. If I wanted to play RPGs I'd play SNES. Seriously keen for some action games, getting wipeout.. but nothing else comes to mind that would be expected to run well.

On topic:
Found Micro Machines runs almost 100% (with 0/1 FS and 1 multiplier at 850 MHz)
FF7 runs fine with x3 and 1/2 FS at 950 MHz

Wipeout 3 runs extremely well, playable at 600 mhz, flies at 1.15 ghz...

Frameskip 3/4, I had multiplier at 8, but noticed today that it meant the game was running fast. Setting it to 4 made it run about right, and fixed some odd behaviour that was happening.

Also, I noticed that if I let the intro animation play, every 5 - 10 secs in game the framerate would drop dramatically (ie 3-4 fps) and this would carry on even if I restarted the emulator and skipped the intro. The only way to fix it was to restart the device...

Ridge Racer 4 Pal : Doesn't Even Start
Wip3out: Crash at Loading
Tekken 3: doesn't even start

With 1001 bios:
Ridge Racer 4 Pal : slow playable, perfect full motion video and sound! (cycle 4, frame skip 0/1)
Wip3out: Playable! Choppy full motion video (cycle 4, frame skip 0/1)
Tekken 3: doesn't even start
Fade to Black: Mess with polygons
Diablo: Fully Playable with sound! (cycle 4, frame skip 0/1)

What is cycle multiplier? I have read a lot of pages but i can't find an explanation...

Normally PSX processor runs x instructions per second. The hardware processor is faster, so after finishing emulating one instructions it needs to wait some time before it starts processing next instruction. You may shorten this waiting time, and have emulated processor running y times faster. This is the multiplier.

But, there is a BIG but... The emulator has many more things to emulate, like I/O and GPU and it usually takes place in the described "waiting" time. N900 does not have enough power to emulate it all with the current codebase, so you may compensate the lag using multiplier only to some extent.

SIlent hill plays fine (cycle 4 skip 3/4) although there is a like a grey square round the main character (Not sure if this is supposed to be there or not)

Syndicate wars plays okay too, slows down a bit when there's a lot of action..

It's looking like there should be lots of games to play once the GPU plugin is implemented .. :)

wipeoutXL (wipeout 2?) is very slow compared to wipeout 3 any ideas why that should be?

GTA 2 runs amazingly fast, but cars and characters are not drawn

MDK runs but is glitchy. First part is slow but then okay once you start on the ground. Not tested different multipliers

Ridge racer works but at 60% speed

Tony Hawk 2 works but is slow 60% or so...

Tiger woods 50% speed

Metal Gear solid runs fine, 70% speed.

All at 1.15ghz

R type delta runs with graphic corruption around alpha objects at multiplier 8, enemies are not drawn at 4x multiplier

streetfighter alpha is very slow but runs

Civ 2 runs fine

Cool boarders 4: runs fine but very slow 30% at multiplier 8

Driver 2 runs but slowly

Medal of honour underground runs but slowly

Gran Tourismo 2: cycle 2, Works but at about 30% speed, colours of cars are all messed up too.

Okay, I forgot I restarted my n900 so the above post was at 600mhz...

Wipeout XL now zooming along at cycle 10, slightly slower than it should be (Jusdging from timers) probably about 90%

R Type Delta works but various graphical glitches depending on ehat cycle multiplier you use...

Mmmm Wipeout 3 crash after i have surpassed the blue line. I had this problem even with epsxe on pc and i solved it turning on "read subchannel" option in the sound menù. Is there a way to solve with psx4all?

My version of wipeout 3 is Special Edition...

Vib Ribbon works for a start, then hangs if you select either play or how to play. (Not tried with cycle 1)

Diablo crash at third doungeon, the screen starts to flash and become blue. I try with another bios.

Using Sixaxis all games are slow down, someone noticed that?

I'm getting an identical issue with 2 different Wipeout 3 ISO's.. manage to find any solution to this? I assume it has to do with the sound.. but my disable sound button doesn't actually do anything (assuming the same for all).

i had ff7 working perfectly (at 1ghz oc) but theres a glitch as soon as i descend in the submarine on disc 2 it wont move anywhere, just spin in circles and i have to reset. is there any known fix for this?

Do you use any specific bios? I know my n900 isn't overclocked, but was hoping a specific bios would help on the speed.
It is lagging quite a lot on my GTA2

As i wrote on the other thread try this. When you are playing press volume button once. I tested this thing with 3 games and i gain 10-12 fps.

N900 600 Mhz cycle 6

Ridge Racer 4: 31 fps normal, 40fps with volume button pressen once
WIp3out 35fps normal, 45fps with the trick!
Diablo 34 fps normal, 42 with trick

this thing make me mad...

had another go on tony hawk's pro skater 2 today - runs well on frameskip 0 and clycle 5. This worked at a decent playable speed (judging from the timer, not sure how the fps meter equates to actual fps. Is 5600 56 fps?)

This was with the device o'c'ed to 1.15ghz mind you, and it crashed shortly aferwards...

It's incredible but it seems to work, i tested abe's exoddus and simphony of the night and i gain 10 - 12 fps. More games are now playeble, i hope this can be of any use to smoku.

It's strage but yes. you need to let a message appear on screen or a background process to run. I tested this thing in a lot of way. You can obtain the same result without volume button but simply connecting the N900 to an access point. If i use Ridge Racer with an internet connection in background the 3D part of the gain runs at 42 fps (33 without trick).

Try it, so we can know if it works for everyone.

The fps you gain aren't few, the difference is really noticeble

P.S. It works with Psx4all official release. Doesn't work with new unrealeased version.

The intro doesn't play properly, and I haven't really played all that far, but everything seems to work as it should once the game gets started..
