T-mobile announces more hspa+ in more US metro areas
N900 users in the US who use T-mobile (isn't that like every US user, since AT&T doesn't support 3G at the N900 frequencies?) are about to get more bandwidth this year. No hard dates in the press release. But it ought to make it easier to justify an N900 in the US.

There will be several things that T-Mobile will need to do to make their service competitive to Clear Internet Service:

* There are $10/mo and $25/mo. data plans for T-Mobile USA... depending on how you sign up. * I don't believe that there is a 5GB cap on my plan...not an issue for me. * 7Mb down/2Mb up network up and running in many areas (I've hit (3) in Philly, DC, Baltimore) * I was paying $40/mo total for voice and data...half of my comparable AT&T plan, more than half of my Verizon plan. However I though this info was available several months ago? |

Oh, and one more thing:
Release an Ethernet device that plugs into my router |

What is 3.5G? I thought it was HSPA+.
|
Re: T-mobile announces more hspa+ in more US metro areas
HSPA+ is evolved HSPA, basically a next version of HSPA which allows for higher upload/download speeds

Re: T-mobile announces more hspa+ in more US metro areas
HSPA+ is active (has been for a few months) on Route 128 near where it intersects with Route 2. (For those of you in the Boston MA area)

Re: T-mobile announces more hspa+ in more US metro areas
also asked this on another thread,
"To get hspa+ speeds, you need to have Smartphone Unlimited Web starting at $24.99 am I right? The $10 Web2go plan is only 3g? " |
Re: T-mobile announces more hspa+ in more US metro areas
The reason I asked about HSPA+ is that my phone says 3.5G but I am not in the right area and I have one of the less expensive plans.

getting regular 3g speeds. I've seen someone post about their incredible hspa+ speeds in nyc. I am using apn internet2.voicestream.com and have tried epc.tmobile.com and all the others but I get a "need to sign up for plan/service" kind of message when i try accessing a webpage. |
Re: T-mobile announces more hspa+ in more US metro areas
I have the 5.99 tzones, and i used epc.tmobile.com . I do get 3.5 speed. I live in central NJ.

Re: T-mobile announces more hspa+ in more US metro areas
I live in chicago and use the 5.99 plan too. It says 3.5 speed for me too but when I do speed tests it not all that great but it is significantly faster than when it says 3g or 2.5. Does anyone know what the max speed of the n900 is? Is it possible to reach 21Mbps with this device?

Re: T-mobile announces more hspa+ in more US metro areas
I'm in Seattle on a legacy T-Mo 'unlimited internet' plan for $20/month.
I connect via epc.tmobile.com and depending on where I am in town the status-bar network-indicator varies between "2.5G", "3G", and "3.5G". Generally, http://speedtest.net routinely indicates I'm getting ~1.5mbps download and ~.3mbps upload. I spoke to two T-Mo reps yesterday. One indicated possible speeds ranged from 1mbps/dl to 18mbps/dl (a big friggin' range, I know). The second rep said the speeds I'm experiencing are the fastest currently available in my area on T-Mo, and that epc.tmobile.com was the correct APN for 'getting our fastest speeds'. Has anyone in Seattle heard or experienced faster speeds? |

It is contract free though. How about the plan you're talking about, is/was there a contract? |
