Thou i was a Sony Ercisson P-Series fan before they ****ed up with the P990 and had to jump ship to the E90.

HTC are very poor on video quality though so might have a bit of problem switching as i record my dance practise sessions.

Note to Nokia: if you can make a meego/symbian 4 device with the same specs? I AM SOLD, along with many of my fellow cool geeks in this community

Not me, not a chance. I've got no attachment to Nokia, though the N900 is a nice piece of hardware. But the main reason is no way I'd give up Maemo/MeeGo to go back to Android. Been there, done that, won't get fooled again. Never want to go back to a capacitive screen either, gimme a good resistive. And no keyboard - forget about it.

Anyway, Sprint and WiMax is just a total fail. I mean Sprint...pleeease God, noooooo.......

Bah.
I don't get this hype.
Screenresolution is the same as with the good'ol N900, it doesn't have a hardware-keyboard and as far as i have seen will likely have way less internal space than Iphone or N900.
On top of this, the form-factor is rather fugly.
The only thing that appeals to me is the HDMI out, but i doubt that this device will be able to play 1080p Movies (no words about a special chip).

If you want to drool over a Cellphone multi-media monster, look at the "Trinity Phone" by Zii Labs.
HDMI out, 1080p playback, Soundchip by Creative, OpenGL 2.0 support and Dual-Boot out-of-the-Box.

Plus, i don't see the use for wimax on a cellphone.
What can you do with it, for which 3.5G isn't sufficient?
Maybe in a few years, but today this is no more than a flashy "sounds good but has no real-life use except for a handfull of people".
We don't even have full 3G Coverage, so why (as a customer) spend money on a technology thats barely usable?

This new HTC device is indeed a MONSTER. The Trinity looks kinda wik et tee WAK...yet neither is sexy enough for me to ditch my N900. Instead, I will just get the HTC device on Sprint as well.

To answer this question dack001...the thing is, this is what we do...not necessarily "customers/consumers"... We are GADGETEERS!! We loVe them, we lust for them, we yeaRN for the attainment of new gadgets and devices to tamper with, to critique, to connect, etc... Just as you said in your question: people were buying devices on a slowly (but surely) developing 3G network, but they...we...still purchased the device(s) of our liking. Even with the N900...it is YET to have reached it's true potential...yet, you, myself, and many others OWN one (before it is usable to its optimum).

There is a huge difference:
The first UMTS-Devices (which sold rather bad) had some usefull additional features (they where among the first mobiles with a camera) which didn't depend on UMTS and where somehow outstanding.
The N900, while (in your opinion) not having reached its full potential, already does a lot more than most other Devices.
Running easy debian isn't just a toy, with OOo and Clam mail it has real-life use.
The HTC on the other side has no real outstanding uses and comes with a formfactor that tops my old E61 in bulkyness by a certain degree (and this is rather hard to achieve).
I seriously can't imagine carrying this phone with me as my primary device.
And if i use it mainly as a multimedia-player, i could just buy an archos Android-Tablet and get more for less money.
I just don't see the joy in buying something just because it is new, when it doesn't come with a good amount of additional features compared to my actual device.

..or just in time. it depends but wimax probably isn't the number one choice worldwide for 4g.....
