I sympathise entirely with yor situation but you should be directing your efforts towards the affected host computer's owners/managers for not maintaining effective protection. If you want to transfer files like this then maybe you should use a dumb usb stick? |
Re: Linux CAN get a virus :X
now that's the least of my problems, i formatted the n900 hdd, with file manager, and apperently i ****ed up, i think it deleted the config files or something cause' it's not recognizing any photos, or videos, or music from the media player :7, altho it can read them if i search them from file manager, anyway i can fix this without having to reflash? :/

Re: Linux CAN get a virus :X
You should've cleaned virus by connecting it to a PC in mass storage mode and using desktop AV.
Also your flash disk wasn't under linux control when you plugged it into infected PC, therefore virus could do everything with it. Blame Nokia on insecure implementation, but you'd likely complain it is hard to use otherwise. |

Re: Linux CAN get a virus :X
do this, download the flasher tool debian deb installer file. Get the firmwares Vanilla and whatever the latest one is in your region. Then put those on a usb drive or something. Get an Ubuntu install disk and just run the os from the disk.
From there all you need to do to update your firmwares is boot the disk. click the deb installer and run the command as described. Edit: You could install ubuntu to a usb stick or sd card also. Just keep the firmwares in a folder in your home directory. This is also handy when your computer gets a virus again and you don't feel like messing with it and you just want to use your computer. |

rikisky - You are doing things without knowing consequences of what you are doing.
There are may people trying to help you, but not every one is explaining all the details to you! Slow down and find out what is happening, before you move even more forward. Espescially before flashing your device! UNDERSTAND BEFORE YOU REACT! |
