dont care how fat or heavy it is as long as it can stream all the tv channals as a computer. At the moment almost no tv streams working on the n900. :(

A less crammed keyboard would be a nice improvement.

There doesn't seem to be a direct connection between phone thickness and battery time. Nokia phones are thicker than other phones. SE has been focusing on thin phones a while (though dumbphones) and both the Milestone and Hero phones at work makes my N900 feel quite chubby.

They all have better battery time than the N900.

From looking at the N-8 prototype, it seems Nokia has had a look at these phones. But I don't like the prototype photos.

I agree that a keyboard is a must as well as at least a 4" screen. USB host would be nice too. A slimmer profile is fine by me. You can add a battery pack if its not enough.

This device is 14 mm: http://translate.google.co.uk/transl...n&hl=&ie=UTF-8

And this information is based on what? I used the milestone for couple of days and I didn't notice any difference in batterylife. I wasn't calculating minutes but when you dont get those crucial 10 hours of heavy useage it doesn't matter if your phone lasts 6h15min or 6h28minutes...

According to that link the N98 is a 4" screen. That's the upper limit of what i might be able to live with. Bigger is not always better.

But 14mm thick is only 4mm less than the N900 at 18mm - not really too significant and certainly not 1/2 as thick. And if the photo is correct, well...the tilt screen is breakage waiting to happen and the 'handles' on both ends look ugly, in the way and like possibly a waste of space.

If that's really the next Maemo/MeeGo device I'll have my N900 for quite a while, especially if it has a capacitive screen..

1/2 of the thick i dont think a qwerty will fit in there but reduce the thickness may make me to switch

Just got a reply from "Eldar" that the next maemo/meego device is ready to be launched this summer. I further asked him about screen size and he did not want to spill that information yet.

Since we’re wildly speculating here, a summer launch is waaay too early for a Maemo 6 device, there isn’t even an alpha SDK out yet. Eldar did talk about a second Maemo *5* device though back then (I think he called it RX-56), saying it will go 9 months after the N900 (when it was thought the N900 would launch in October) which would line up with this summer prediction. Personally, with all the MeeGo fuss, I’d be very surprised to see another Fremantle device, but who knows.

PS. Also, bigger phones look thinner. Here’s hoping for a larger screen.
