Re: Very strange charging behaviour?
hi, i read in one thread which i couldn't find back - although i did try with the search
and ad hoc keywords- that setting wifi connection to 10 mA will optimize power consumption. I think it was Karel's reply. my question is : how to do that ? thx, Seb. PS : please Karel don't shoot ! I did search :-) |

Choose a WLAN connection (with the Globe-and-antenna icon)>Edit>Next(don't change anything, just hit "next"!) >Next>Advanced>"Other" tab Change WLAN transmission power to 10mW You can hit "Cancel" or "Finish" at the end, either way the power is changed. And, totally counter-intuitive, this is done for all your WLAN connections. Why Noka thought it would be a good idea to bury this in the settings for individual WLAN configurations is beyond me. Dang! almost forgot: BANG! BANG! (he shot me down) (I'm a Tarantino fan) |

Nokia really need to get someone with GUI design sense on the case, pronto - someone who can oversee the whole OS to ensure there is consistency of design without glaring mistakes such as this. Having hackers writing and designing much of this stuff is really beginning to show through in the poor quality apps and functionality that is being delivered. Much of IT OS is very, very good but all too easily let down by the poorly written applications and incosistent GUI design. In fact, the lack of design is the problem - it does feel a bit thrown together in places. :( |

https://maemo.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=256 "The option of choosing the 10 mW transmission power is there only because certain countries require this in their law. The low power transmission has a negligible effect on the battery lifetime because the data is sent in short bursts that last for less than 1% of total time. On the other hand, the lower transmission power will make it harder to keep connected. Therefore it is best to use the (default) 100 mW power, unless legislated otherwise in the law of your country." |
