Packet Data
Hey guys, just wondering how to set up a Packet Data connection and not a GPRS one as I need the Packet Data for MMS. Thanks.

Re: Packet Data
Bump. Can someone clarify this for me? Is there a difference between packet data and GPRS? I have not received an MMS since I have got the phone and I have had them sent to it. I thought the phone could still at least receive them :/

fMMS application settings: •MMSC: mmsc.three.net.au:10021/mmsc (Note the complete text is entered) •Resize Image Width: 640 •Your Phone Number: +614..... http://users.adam.com.au/danielw/N90...330-144928.png •Access Point Name: 3services http://users.adam.com.au/danielw/N90...330-145013.png •Use Proxy: No •But do put the proxy information and enable it the first time. Then save. •Then go back and uncheck the box. Proxy details should remain grayed out. •fMMS will use the disabled proxy information even if it is grayed out. •This allows you to use just one 3services connection profile for both internet and fMMS! •HTTP proxy: mmscprox.three.net.au •Port number: 8799 http://users.adam.com.au/danielw/N90...330-145020.png |
Re: Packet Data
sometimes you just have to create a new GPRS APN for fMMS, and to do that you can install fAPN from extra-devel (if i'm not mistaken)
i've tried setting fmms without creating another GPRS APN because my phone operator has the same setting for both GPRS and MMS, but fmms didn't work... so i tried creating a new GPRS APN & do the correct setting according to my phone operator and fmms works just fine hope this helps |

I can only set GPRS - http://users.adam.com.au/danielw/N90...330-145013.png I read somewhere when you first insert your simcard it asks what connection type you want i.e GPRS or Packet data. Is there anyway to change this setting by x-terminal etc without having to flash the device? Thanks. |

Re: Packet Data
Never mind, finally got it working. Went to the three website and got it to send me the MMS settings for the N97, applied them and now it works. It still uses GPRS but in the proxy section on the connection setup it has and IP address (10.176.57.25) with port (8799) insted of (mmscprox.three.net.au).. Internet still works on the access point to so thats a bonus!
