v0.3 released!
Also known as the "I went off and got a life but I'm still here honest" release. Uploaded to extras-devel (non-free as usual, MohammadAG seems to be looking at fixing packaging for me so I can remain lazy - other volunteers welcome!), so it should be available shortly. One of the most popular changes for this release is a slightly tweaked news*feed* UI - entry is back at the top (as with the 0.1.x releases) and new newsfeed items appear at the top. Comments have not changed. This means the UI is now pretty much the same as Facebook. Thanks to everyone who voted! More votes will be coming. Another largeish feature is *EXPERIMENTAL* support for viewing application posts, including link/photo/video thumbnails etc. This may break and eat your dog - you have been warned. Last but not least, a bug with user avatars occasionally not loading has (hopefully?) been fixed. Features - UI changes to newsfeed, newest posts are at the top - notification of like/unlike success (sadfist @ tmo) - [EXPERIMENTAL] applications/shared link/video/image should do something (deans6571 @ tmo and others) Fixes - Avatars apparantly not always loading. could be a problem with too many requests at once? (netoak @ tmo) Known Issues - Posting a comment without having posted a newspost (= lacking stream_read permission) = error 200 no access from facebook (eean / various @ tmo) - White on yellow information banners: this is a Qt bug, which will be automatically fixed with (PR1.2) - Long names can be 'cut off' by the time since the post/comment was made. I'd also like to say thanks to sadfist, deans6571, and all the people who voted in the recent poll - for their suggestions incorporated in this release. Feedback, flames, and comments welcome as usual. Enjoy! |

I will admit to not being a 'tester' as such but have always been happy to install 'developing' apps (have never bricked any of my devices so far - luckily!!!) but here you're saying that there IS a good chance that it may actually brick it - is that correct...?!! Personally, I wouldn't even know where to begin if this actually happened! I know apps in 'Extras Dev' do have a warning - and I have installed a few so I must be lucky so far - but would it be generally safe to install this latest update or shall I hold off....?!! |

Take everything I say with tongue in cheek, unless I have it in capitals or something like that generally. It will work fine, if there are problems, they will be related to the app exclusively. |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
Nice work w00t.
The photos....are a bit small though...not easy to see or really usable....can the siz ebe increased, or the ability to select the photo to download it and open it the N900 photo viewer app? |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900

I will probably add the option to download/view directly in the future. |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
it would be nice if we could see who a person is talking to. you know like how certain conversations show up on your newsfeed

Re: My Facebook client for the n900
FaceGo is a better name for this application or name it as "Facebook for Nokia N900" like the Black Berry devices!!
|
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
......loving the update!!! w00t - you're a star...!!! One weird thing a have spotted (not overly important!) is that although we can now view posts from Facebook applications( i.e. Farmville, Mafia Wars, Zynga Poker to name a few) , if I have friends who have levelled up or completed a specific task on one of these applications - Facebrick still shows an empty post from these friends?! Again - not a massive problem but would be nice if I could view what these friends had actually done!
On a side note - I know you've specifically tailoroed this app for Facebook but I for one would seriously love this exact same app to use to sign into Twitter.....!!!!!(there is a Twitter app that uses the UI of the N900 - but it hasn't been working for months - for me at least!!) |

as for facebrick, what are the plans for future releases? |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
been using your app since day1, and i must say i've enjoyed every bit of it. I was just curious to find out if it were possible to say, "commented via Nokia N900" when you comment on somebody's status, i know it says that when you change your OWN status, but wanted to know if the above was possible.
Great Work!!! |

The Conversations app is god for just that, conversations/chating, and can do so using any medium, Twiter, Facebook, MSN, SMS.... But when you want to view a newsfeed/freinds updates like those on Twitter and Facebook, which include photos, videos, like/dislike, comments....you need a dedicated app to cater for all those functions. Having said that, what I would like to see, is one app that displays all friends updates in one combined feed...a bit like FriendFeed (FriendStatus) but with the ability to post as well, to either just 1 site/account, or multiple sites/accounts in one press....a harmonous unity of FaceBrick, witter and FriendFeed. |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
......I'de love portrait support in this app!!
Also, if I added my Twitter timeline to Facebook (via my pc) would these also show within Facebrick & would I be able to post back to Twitter..?! |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
Have you looked into whether you can load more statuses yet? The only reason why I have to revert back to the Facbook website is because of this. When I'm busy, I can't check statuses all the time, so when I'm checking after say 5 or 6 hours, usually there is only around an hours worth of statuses available.
Similar for twitter, but both the twitter apps can view previous updates, which for me makes them 100% more useful. Be brilliant to see that in this app! |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
i've a little request!
can you change "update" button with "share", like in facebook web site!? "update" seems to be referred to "update posts viewed"! and also, can you put an alert when user sends an empty status update?! thanks ;) |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
Wonderful app and one of my most frequently used!
I think it would be nice if you could keep track of how many comments on an update there are - is that possible (and of course useful to others) ;-) |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
hi im having problem with facebrick.
After i logged in my account and wanted to update my status, it pop up and ask to confirm the access. There are two buttons at the bottom, which are confirm and cancel, but i cant click both of them. Whenever i touch it, nothing happened. Anyone can help me solve this problem? Thanks. |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900

I solved the problem by submitting my credentials by clicking the return key. On the next screen I had to click about a hundred times on/around the allow/confirm button until it worked... A little bit annyoing but in the end everything is good and only had to do it once. |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
With risk of sounding like a broken record, but, would this be hard to port to Diablo?

Same problem here.

Re: My Facebook client for the n900
is there any way to fix this prob?
|
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
quick question.
using this app does facebook 'get' your mobile number? I am a reluctant facebook user and deliberately don't let facebook have my mobile number or trawl my email, so while i'd like to have a client app to use facebook i wouldn't want it if it came at the expense of facebook knowing my mobile number. cheers. :) |

I generally leave Facebrick open full-time which means that I keep older status info. This is still planned, though. |

Re: My Facebook client for the n900
Facebrick has a student from GSOC within Maemo helping out this summer. I'll be posting more details on my blog soon about what they'll be doing - so things should be speeding up hopefully. :)
I'll also probably release another minor update soon with a few small cosmetic changes. I've been busy with work and other projects, and as a result haven't had time to get cracking on this as much as I wanted. |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
Nice stuff !
Usually I just use it for a quick look at FB if I need anything that will take longer I use the full website. Hope to see some devel on this, keep up the good work... |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
How come I am not able to use Facebrick throu 3G network? It only works with WiFi on my device :(
