Re: [Announce] FaceBrick: Facebook client for Maemo with a rich UI

ye when I first read about facebrick I was really looking forward to it, the facebook widget is ok and I suppose people cn just go to the website but it wastes too much time, would just be nice to have an app that does it all for you. As you I am surprised there arent loads of apps like this being created :(

Is this app linked in to Facebook Places?

Looks good, I'm a bit annoyed with the web site, too. Yes, the full web experience is nice to have but it'd also be nice if the kinetics could be set to "lock" at the borders, etc. I love the N97 app and prefer it to my iPhone (only really missing Notifications and now Places). I'll def be watching this.

Till last Month, there were no good social network clients in N900. We have all sorts of apps in N900 to resolve most complex needs, but nothing for twitter, facebook, orkut etc. Hats off to you for the initiative. Its working fine so far. Check out my review here.

"Error loading newsfeeds: 5 Unauthorized source IP Address" If like me you just want it to say via Nokia N900 on your posts then there's a solution.. Go to http://funnyfacebook.tk/ register then you can choose a list of what you want it to say e.g. I've got it saying via N900 meamo5 Smartphone and it has a little n900 icon.. you just click on update via choose the 1 you want then click update via (your choose) under devices then another window will pop up save that as a bookmark then update your post from that bookmark and it will say via whatever you want every time without the need for the facebrick app.. hope this helps

"Error loading newsfeeds: 5 Unauthorized source IP Address"

What is the fix for this error? I had it running before but had to flash the device so had to install FBrick again.

Thanks

I started this on Saturday, and have spent pretty much all of today getting it to run on the n900 (SDK issues, PR1.2 vs 1.1.1, a Qt/compiler bug, git problems .. I've been through all sorts of hell :P) - but as an early taster, I'd like to present a quick screenshot of my Facebook client for the N900.

I'm probably going to move "check for new posts" to the titlebar menu, for starters. I also intend to eventually try to produce a desktop widget that isn't so horribly useless as the Nokia one (if I click on a newsfeed story, a browser window opens up and takes me to it)

Feedback of all sorts welcome! (This is the first time I've run it on the device, so please be gentle. ;))

Oh, and if there's any features from Facebook you'd like to see on your N900, please let me know.

Creater of FaceBrick r u doing OK

Well, good thing this is a community around an open sourced OS with applications where the codes are made available?

Alright, so people have been asking for status for a while. I've been on holidays and busy with other things, and I also really didn't want to have to write this, but here's the simple facts: I'm not really working on facebrick anymore. If you want to read more about my reasons, please read: http://blog.rburchell.com/2010/09/fa...ne-for-me.html

(I'd like to emphasise one point, which is that it is not related to what Nokia have, haven't, continue to do or not do, as some people have speculated about).

With that out of the way, I would like to note that I am still open to hosting the bits that keep it working, so if someone would like to help make it work, by all means, let's have at it.

The specific problem is that FB seem to have changed something with the way their API works. The session proxy now returns error 100 (invalid parameter) constantly (and I've no clue why since that is literally all the information you get).

If anyone wants to have a crack at talking to FB or tracking this down, the code I am using to talk to FB is at:

http://w00t.dereferenced.net/p/t/pas...8-zc0sjf-0.txt

If you need more information, don't hesitate to ask.

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to post this, and I'm even more sorry I don't come offering a clear-cut solution, but on the bright side, the code for everything is public, so I'm sure that someone will be able to get this working again. If they try.

FaceBrick should be fixed with the next update to the libqfacebook package.

Thanks to Ahmad Mushtaq for fixing this. :-)
