Re: My Facebook client for the n900
w00t: You are doing such a great job and have my deepest respect!
I have a few things on my wishlist, but not sure how hard it is to code: 1) see the number of comments and likes, maybe next to the "xx hours ..ago" or below the profilepicture. So you can notice, if there should be any comments to read, without opening the update-message first. 2) the ability to use the facebrick as a large (maybe resizeable) widget, so you can have the widget running on one of your screens, and just have to swipe your way to it. 3) some minor notifications of new FB-updates. Maybe the popup, a sound, vibrate or LED light - or free choice of them. |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
@deans6571
When I post from Facebrick it says "X time ago via NokiaN900" if you view the FB website. |

i suggest a green followed by two blue flashes. (two blu flashes because all the notifications are 2 blue flashes, and the green one to allow a differentiation to the normal notification flashes.) instead of green you could also use any other colour, except blue ;-) |

Re: My Facebook client for the n900
Nice little update today w00t.....I like that the original post is now showen in that second page along with the comments (if any)
Since you have gone with the Conversations app type of appearance with the scrolling etc, any chance you can make the text the same as well? - Light blue names for friends names - Dark blue names for your own name - The timestamp smaller - The timestamp at the bottom, with the post txt starting directly after the name None of this is neccesary...just me being pedantic, all cosemtic....rather see ya focus on new features/functions....like displaying photos, video and uploading them. Either way, again, great job, keep it up. |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
First off, what an awesome job you're doing. Thank you.
I will echo one of the comments above: it would be nice to see how many comments or likes are there on the main screen, without having to open up the specific message. And also a widget and LED notifications. |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900

Re: My Facebook client for the n900
In the newsfeed UI, some feeds (posted links, youtube posts, farmville & mafia wars crap, etc) do not show at all. I only see the person's name and pic. Basically, I only get to see my friends' status updates and the rest of their feeds are blank. Shouldn't we at least the title for each feed?
Also, are you planning to add a UI showing Profile pages (mine or friends' profiles)? |

Re: My Facebook client for the n900
Mh just installed version 0.2.3 via Terminal and got "Errors While installing: Facebrick". The app did not even want to start :(

Re: My Facebook client for the n900
Reading all of the back and forth on this site, with recommendations and praise, reminds me of my last exchange with Microsoft about issues with Excel and Word...
Just kidding...anyone that doesn't understand why free and open source is great should read this thread. This is a high-quality app and w00t is quickly responding to user requests. Speaking of open source, is the source code out there anywhere? I know you have said earlier you would post it to the repository when you figure out packaging, but I was wondering if it was posted on your site or anywhere else. I am new to Qt and this is a good real-world example of its use. |

Re: My Facebook client for the n900
.....loving the improvements w00t - this app is improving day by day, now THAT is progress!!
One thing that I do notice, however, is this: when I open up Facebook via the N900 browser and notice, say, 2 'Notifications' (which I do not open to read), if I then go to Facebrick and read the notifications via my friends comments - if I then go back to Facebook (even an hour later) via the browser, the 'Notifications' are still showing......?! In other words, viewing & reading all the comments via Facebrick does NOT register on Facebook so that the 'Notifications' notification disappears. I have to go back to Facebook via the browser, to read the notifications, in order to clear them - does that kinda make sense...? I know what I mean - bit difficult to explain without physically showing you...!!! |

Re: My Facebook client for the n900
I don't think anyone mentioned this (I probably missed it). Link parsing would be sweet so we don't have to go to the FB post then the link. I'm sure it's on your to-do list in any case. Keep up the great work!

Re: My Facebook client for the n900
I'm triyng to install facebrick directly from Ham, but installer stops warning about other application parts in conflict (libqt4-maemo5-test, script & svg). How can I solve this.
Thanks |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
First of all, thanks a lot for this awesome software, w00t! Works like a charm for me.
However, there is one problem. I don't know if it is just me, but I cannot post comments, get a yellow error popup every time saying that the app is not authorized to do this..(or similar :)) Sorry, if this is a known problem and I just did not read about it.. As I do not use games like Farmville or Mafia Wars, I wonder if it would be possible to integrate a setting to hide notifications like these..? Keep up the good work! |

There should be 3 checkmarks ticked under "Additional permissions". |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
I think I have the same problem too. I just manage to install it, and try to logout and come back. Same problem occurs. could not post comments. (Reading comments are fine).
And also: The 3 checkmarks has been ticked. Verified using the firefox. So could be a bug. Update: rebooting seems solve my problem. Or either the update is not real time. So needs to wait for time lapse. before the application privacy took into place. |
Re: My Facebook client for the n900
Btw, Facebrick does sync automatically every x minutes, right? What is the pre-defined interval?
I think it was already mentioned that interval changeable would be nice... And I think it would be nice to have the sync button on the left of the text-box (just the opposite of the update-button) instead of in the top bar menu. Like this: <sync> [ text-box ] <update> |

Re: My Facebook client for the n900
Can you please edit the first post of the thread with instructions on how to install these early versions, for people that would like to test it out?
I went into the App Manager, but can't see if on the alphabetical list in the All category... Thanks for building it and the best of luck in developing it! |
