Internet Tablet Ownership Poll

I thought it would be great to know the "tablet ownership demographics" of visitors on this site:

II second that one. I knew about the 770 a long time before the n800 and wasn't able to get one due to financial reasons. The n800 was announced and I got my tax return back a month later.

I ordered (pre-ordered I think) the 770 as soon as they announced it and made orders available (November 2005-ish?). N800 I snagged from CompUSA a day early. Yes, I like Nokia. Yes, I like Linux (though I'm actually a Mac user). Yes, I like internet tablets. :D

I got my 770 last April. I was looking for a new pda, that could do wireless scans. Saw linux as the os for the tablet and was sold. Who cared if it didn't have a pim.

Got the n800 2 weeks ago. had to exchange it because of a bad battery, found out it was bad about 30 minutes into messing with it. Took it back the next morning, and finally got the time to sit around and mess with it today.

Yeah, I agree with penguinbait there. I had a 770, and the day the N800 was available I went out and got it. Actually wound up selling the 770 to someone in Hong Kong for about the same price as retail, so in total I only paid $40 to upgrade, since the 770 was a X-mas present. Good deal. I voted i own both, because for a few weeks I did, and that was the "best" answer.

I bought the 770 as soon as it became available here in the US and the N800 from CompUSA as soon as I found one that had them in stock. Last three phones have been Nokia smartphones (7710, 9300, current phone N73). Yes, I also like Nokia and found the 770 really useful and the N800 no less. Hoping to offload my 770 soon.

I don't know how to answer the poll.

I have a 770, and I do not plan to buy a n800.

On the other hand, I very likely will buy some other internet tablet in the near future,

Perhaps an iPhone, Other tablet style phone w/ WiFi, or a Pepper Pad, or a UMPC that I load Linux on, or what ever some clever company brings to market.

I have a Nokia 770. Ordered it December 2005 and received it in January 2006. So far I have no complaints about it at all. N800, while faster and with more memory has drawbacks like always on, no Metal Cover, no great Camera and such. If Nokia comes out with something better ( Nokia N900 ? ) I may think about buying it. ;)

Re: Internet Tablet Ownership Poll

I never heard of the 770...
learned about the n800 in January and bought it early February.
never used linux before, still haven't I guess as the n800 does not allow me to play/break it much in its default setup.

Re: Internet Tablet Ownership Poll

I´ve voted for "I have a 770 and I have plans to buy the n800 " though the right option would be "I HAD a 770 and I have plans to buy the n800".

I heard about 770 in summer 2005 (i think) and i was waiting with the money in my hand until the official release at the end of the year. The 30th november 2005 i bought finally my dreamed 770. I was so happy with it but it had some points that needed crucial improvements. In June 2006 IT OS 2006 was released and 770 changed drastically for me... this was really near to what i was waiting for.
At the end of 2006 i heard about N800 and so i started to think of a possible upgrade. In january 2007 i sold my loved 770 and now i am waiting to buy N800 at a local store here in Spain. The only option actually is the Nokia Online store.

I think Nokia will be pleased with these results.

Then there's those of us who briefly had both, sold the 770, and now own two n800s! Guess you can't put in all the possibilities or the list would be a page long. :)

Hava a 770, still not sure wether I will get a 800 or switch to one of the new WinCE units. Currently in favor of the latter due to software.

Well I voted that I have a n800 but never had a 770 even though this isn't quite true - I have ordered a n800 but it hasn't arrived yet :-)

Bump.

(Maybe someone could make this one sticky? Otherwise it disappears after a while and we get no more new votes..)

Maybe you should make a poll. :p

Re: Internet Tablet Ownership Poll

It is clear from the poll that planning to upgrade refers to upgrading to the N800. So there doesn't need to be an option about maybe planning to buy a car someday :)
