Audio Remote Control
Is there a way to make an audio remote control for the N900? I mean, when i take the n900 to listen outside home, it's a really pain in the a** to take it off anytime i want to pass songs or adjust the volume, since i use tight jeans!
It would be so good if n900 earphone came with controls just like n95's. :) So the question is: Can it be done? Could be wired or wireless (maybe using bluetooth). |
Re: Audio Remote Control
i think some bluetooth headsets have volume and track change buttons. They are normally used to pick and drop a call but can also be used with music.
However it means ul have to use a bluetooth to listen to music and not headphones. |
Re: Audio Remote Control
You can purchase Bluetooth headphones with media controls and they should work with the built-in media player :)

Re: Audio Remote Control
Basically every bluetooth AVRCP controller should work.
Just watch out for for bluetooth headsets with controls. For example like this one: http://europe.nokia.com/find-product...eadsets/bh-503 |
Re: Audio Remote Control
Thanks! I'll give it a try! :)
The best would be if i used my wired phone, and used a wireless bluetooth remote to control the media and volume! Or I am just dreaming? :p |
Re: Audio Remote Control
I'm looking for a standalone AVRCP remote too but haven't found one yet. I would like to control the music while listening in my car using the fm-transmitter and having a navigation application in foreground.
Luckily enough, if you connect a Bluetooth headset and turn on the FM transmitter afterwards, the Audio is routed to the FM transmitter and you can use the headset just for controlling. Still, a standalone remote control would be better. |
Re: Audio Remote Control
Yeah! But I think using the bluetooth and FM transmitter at the same time would consume way too much battery life! :(
There must be a way to Mod a bluetooth headset with media controls, just to use the controls! I'll do some research on it! Thank you guys!! :D |
Re: Audio Remote Control
I use BH-214 (http://www.nokiausa.com/find-product...headset-bh-214)
It works not bad volume control, skip forward/back and even rewind/fast forward. sometimes it can "sleep" so you have to press some buttons twice. As a bonus, pressing pick up button evokes a good old last number redial. |
Re: Audio Remote Control
Theoretically you can pair any bluetooth HID device (e.g. keyboard, mouse, gamepad, etc..) - you could use that to remote control the apps. It already works with the WiiMote and the PS3 gamepad. A WiiMote or DualShock 3 costs about 40 Euros and they are pretty ergonomic :)
If it does not work out of the box, the Maemo community has enough talented hackers to make it happen :) |

Re: Audio Remote Control
And the search for the standalone bluetooth remote control keeps on! :p
There must be a way to "take it out" from a bluetooth headphone! |

But do the controls work well? I mean, the skip tracks, volume up and down, call control, etc. ? |
Re: Audio Remote Control
I noticed on Amazon there are remotes you can attach to the steering wheel of the car, though I'm not sure if they would work since some seem to have speakers built in for handset-free bluetooth operation..
I know the TomTom comes with a (I believe) bluetooth remote control for controlling the GPS unit. But my father won't let me take it to try to use it as a remote control. =P Edit: This is what I'm talking about for the TomTom thing. http://www.amazon.com/TomTom-Bluetoo...0875621&sr=8-1 |
