Re: I Have the Worst Phone in the World
Too many Nokia fanboys on here quick to defend simple flaws with the N900 :(
I think a large majority of N900 users migrated from a symbian handset of some kind (i.e n95, n97, e71) and therefore expected similiar if not greater phone performance levels from the N900. Whether you want to accept it or not, alot of us felt like Nokia had robbed us once we splashed out £500+ for the device. Not all of us are linux geeks, or experienced programmers/developers, and the non-technical consumers of this device expected the N900 to deliver the following... *Phone functionality similiar to s60 devices *Fully functional OVI Store with a range of games and apps boasting the N900's potential I love my N900, but i can't help but admit defeat when i stare at it sometimes :( |

He posted 6 problems with his N900. of these, points 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 (note that thats all of them) are not issues that the vast majority of people have, plenty of people in this thread have told him that all of his reported problems do not exist for them. I'm one of those people, yes, it takes 3-4 seconds for the phone to ring properly and be answerable when watching a video, but thats a 3-4 second wait, it doesnt make the phone unanswerable, which is the problem the OP's having. Thus, he likely has a duff device, and the very second response he got (from me) along with countless others throughout the thread, suggested he contact nokia for a repair/replacement as the phone's clearly defective. |

and no one can say that the title isn't provocative, attacking, ... etc. for persons who have paid a lot from the same device. it is direct critic to everyone implying that your decision of buying was totally wrong. |

I have never bought into this 'internet tablet' excuse: How many many of us would wish to carry an N900 in one pocket and a cellphone in another? Most people will rely on their N900 a phone, so it IS a phone to most people. You don't need research to prove that - common sense should prevail... Indeed, Nokia UK and retailers push the N900 heavily as a phone, so it is reasonable to presume most people here bought it AS a phone. That they are now disapponted is not their fault. The N900 is not an alternative to a mac or pc - see how you get on without those devices next time you need to re-flash... Judging by the postings on this forum, the highly visible marketing and extensive reviews, It is fair to say that the N900 has gone mainstream and is now in the hands of the masses who clearly regard it as a phone and make demands of it accordingly. To scoff at these demands is ignorant and narcisstic. The N900 is an amazing device and if the phone & calendar UI and functionality were improved it could turn help the market away from other brands more effectively. Success is a double-edged sword and Nokia should consider that when launching Meego. |
