Google & Ogg Theora

Interesting, we could eventually have accelerated Theora support for HTML 5 on the N900...
Let's just hope it becomes one of the default standard video in the HTML5 standard! (die H264!)

sadly its not going to die, not that i am sure i want it to, until apple and microsoft makes it available in their browsers.

the funny thing is that html5 video tags can support multiple source files, its just that ogg would make for the perfect lowest common denominator format. Yes, it would mean double the storage use for sites that want to provide both a ogg and a h264 stream tho. But then, how much space do youtube use for its multiple stream variants? Or is it simply a matter of telling the server to drop much of the data from a HD file before streaming?

No it has to store a copy for each file.
