Sculptris ,a free 3d sculpting application by Dr Tomas Petter.would be great to see it ported as the pressure sensitivity may help it work nicely .The windows version is 3.0 mb.It is only in version 1.01 but has impressed a lot of people in the industry.

Re: what would be your dream app for the n900?

I'd like to see more fun and easy-to-use photo/video apps for N900. Something like Hipstamatic for iPhone.

And generally I'd like to see more simple apps for N900. Most of the current apps seem to be a bit hard to use and really tech oriented. It's Linux based system but why does it have to show in every app?

An FPS engine, or just an FPS horror game, like Dementium for the DS.

Flash player 10 would be nice, but id have to say a .deb unpacker/packer so its easy to make deb files on the device and pack modded apps/files.

an audio to text converter for recall, would be usefull to be able to convert a phone call to text, as apposed to having to listen and do it myself... Im sure it can't be too hard as there must already be something else out there ;)

coreplayer &
some Augmented reality apps like the one for the android below:
http://www.dishpointer.com/2009/android-app-released/

but I think the n900 might not be able to handle digital compass data, like some other phones... but don't quote on this i might be wrong.

one thing that i miss from my e 72 is Google maps and the fact that i can run an app rather then have to go online to view it it works better and you can search for things near you i.e pubs

and maybe just maybe a face recognition software like on the Sony Ericsson x10

this world be perfect

an app which alows me to see my n900 screen on my tv (i know we can that already) and use the N900 as a touchpad.... like on a laptop... with cursor... because it isn't useable because i still have to look at that tiny (incompartison to the tv) display to navigate through the menu because when i'm lookin on the tv i dont know were i'm tapping....

and if there were no limitations...

an app.... nothing but a huge button with a happyface on it.... and when u push it every iphone in range of 3m shuts down and bricks..... =;)

A fully working GPS Golf application. Iphone can choose among 5 complete application. In our community we have a scorecard app with some nice statistical features but lacking the GPS part. I will contribute some money, advice and testing if needed.
Who will vote for this and even more important who feel the call.

Re: [Maemo 5] What would be your dream app for the N900?

okay lets be practical here..jokes aside, i REALLY would LOVE if theres an app that could INCREASE the overall framerate of the phone. that would make this phone PERFECT.(the scrolling of the contacts on phonebook, the scrolling on the web browser.)
some one PLEASE come up with this..
smooth scrolling!
ive installed transitions.ini n it made a huge difference to the phone.
i hope there is something like that for SCROLLING!
help..

There is a lot, a lot of applications that I would want, but if I had to choose a single one, I would like an full featured Augmented Reality app that would give me information about anything or anyone I pointed it at.

You could have something like Metasploit that keeps a repository of canned exploits, and also checks your IP and pings other addresses to figure out a likely DHCP range. Then it attacks them all with the latest iPhone exploits. On a wireless LAN it would mess up all iPhones on the same access point, such as a Starbucks :D

I think you all need to stop "DREAMING" about these apps and actually go out and get a "GOOD" phone that can do these tasks.

I only just recently sold my N900 and got the iPhone 4 (So much better)

Android software compatibility via the use of a wrapper or libraries and extensions. That would be awesome..

Re: [Maemo 5] What would be your dream app for the N900?

Not that I am complaining with my N900 but i want to ditch my current blackberry bold9000 and use nokia n900 exclusively for calls and data. However, i would be having a separation anxiety syndrome hahaha if thats what you call it. Ok here is my wishlist for my n900:

1. Ubertwitter - but TWIMGO is a good contender
2. Socialscope alternative
3. Blackberry Messenger - cant think of any alternative on this, though pingchat is available for iphone and android i believed

Goodluck to me :) Cheers!

I was just thinking that today. I got my N900 yesterday, and while browsing through the repositories i thought it'd be nice to have a program that uses the main camera, and overlays a ruler that changes scale based on the camera's distance sensor.

It's a real shame the N900 doesn't have a compass, as i was fiddling with my brother's iphone (yuck) and thought it wouldn't be hard to create a targeting program. Use gps to determine your location, tell it where your target is, and your muzzle velocity, and it'd tell you the azimuth and elevation required... Of course that could only be used for evil, so yeah. hah.

simoultaneous (offline) speech based language translator

WILL BE a killer. Google has the project ongoing, a cloud (online) based first.

This... would be awesome. I'd pay for that. It'd have to have some kind of safety, though, just in case someone is fiddling with your phone and sets it off accidentally.

I'm not yet sure what my dream application would be. I think whatever it would be would have to have different hardware. None of my TVs are in the irreco database, and i can't teach it the codes like i could on my Palm TX with it's irda hardware. Or various augmented reality program ideas that would require a compass.

I think what i'd like right now is a web browser that does it all. Mircob has the neato zoom guesture, but doesn't rotate the page when the phone is rotated, but opera and firefox do. The latter two tend to mangle the webpages into a 'mobile' version (though perhaps not all of them), but rotate quite nicely.

(sorry for the two posts in quick succession, but i don't know how to multi-quote here)
