Somthing is definatly wrong with my battery

So i just woke up after like a 2 hour nap, with the phone on the charger woke up it was like 69% or somthing, got up turned wifi on and connected to my pc with rddesktop that is it, for about 30mins turn it off and my batt is at 32% seriously this is not right, i wake up everyday with a green light fully charger by 4 hours of medium use its dead..

What are my options is it the phone thats stuffed or just get a new batt? btw i have no widgets or anything on desktop apart from a batt level and the microb icon thats it.

Well, I dont know what to say here. I am in the same situation. Medium use kills my battery in 4 hours too. I even had my handset replaced thinking I had a faulty model. Then replaced the battery. But no change.

I just accepted this is what the N900 is like. I carry a spare battery when i know i wont be able to charge this beast. Very disappointing but what can you do.

P.S.
I also dont have any widgets on my desktop.
My 3G is usually connected but idle.
Bluetooth off.
Screen Brightness very low.

Interesting thing is that on my travels in march, i was in a country where only 2G was available - and my battery lasted me 10-12 hours with medium use. I know 3G sucks battery life but only 4 hours with 3G? something isnt right there. The N900 was built to be used with the latest technology. Being a premium device, most N900 users are in areas where 3G is available.

There has to be somthing wrong as other users i have heard get alot more than 4 hours use, like even a day i would be very happy and that it not much to ask for the amount of stuff i do on the phone, i love the phone so much but this is starting to get to me. People dont say oh you should have dont your research its a mobile computer blah blah, yes i have researched this phone months and months before i got it. All im asking for is more than 4 hours usage.

I think our only options is to try overclock diffrent kernals, people are saying there batt has gotten bettter...

I dont think a different kernal is going to give us and others 6+ hours.
I am just hoping with an update, Nokia can fix whatever is draining our batteries so much.

One hour of IM chat on gtalk drains my battery by:30-40%
One hour of phone convo drains my battery by about 40%.

I've also read in posts here people getting great battery life. Remains a mystery as between us we have three handsets which all behaved the same way. If i changed my kernel then il be paranoid that the low battery is because of the processor over working itself. This way I know i havent done anything.

Hello

It seams that there is a bug somewhere which cause execive battery drain.

With my N900 I can have a battery drop of 10% every 12hours (no phone usage, wifi off, 3g on). I am very happy with this battery consumption.

If the bug kick in I get -10% every 2 hours (no phone usage, wifi off, 3g on).

I advise using batteryGraph to analyse your situation. In my case I noticed an extra CPU usage, for no apparent reason. A reboot solve the problem.

I am waiting for the next firmware, I suppose it will fix my occasional excessive battery drain.

Yep afaq im pretty sure we have the exact same problem, same thing with me on msn pecan and stuff drains so fast, if u come up with anything give me a yell, i dont wanna overclock at all i have no need to, so i guess its wait for PR1.2 then see how we go. So i just wanna make sure its not a fault with the phone and its just the software side of things.

I recommend carrying an extra battery -- it takes maybe 10 seconds to change them, plus bootup time.

Battery Eye is a neat program that can help you trace battery drain and what causes it.

I bought a big Mugen battery that lasts a long time, but makes your N900 look like a bomb.

Really? i brought a $700 device to carry an extra batt around for one day, not my idea of a tablet but thanks for the advice, il wait around for pr 1.2 see how we go then

Re: Somthing is definatly wrong with my battery

lol yes i saw that bigger, fatter and way bad'der battery but i couldnt make my n900 any heavier.

I use the battery eye to monitor my battery. So i know for a fact that the IM application drains the battery like a mother f*. In fact, so does the ovi maps or the media player.
