Re: UAE4All Maemo Edition

As I explained at http://github.com/smokku/uae4all/issues/closed#issue/32 it's just the way auto frameskip works.
If you need cycle-exact emulation (ie. demos) you want Auto, if you want smooth animation 0 might be preferred.

I did some testing and it looks the bottleneck is the OCS emulation code (together with Copper and Blitter), not the CPU core, so I will stick to UAE core as Cyclone has problems with programs doing weird things.

Re: UAE4All Maemo Edition

UAE m68k

Zool - loads disk 1+2 ok took ages to load though (serious issues with gaphics all over the place)

Digital concert 4 (MUSIC DEMO) ran fine no problems on all tracks.

lotus turbo challenge - loads fine works great on speed, sound and graphics

Cyclone

Zool - loads disk 1+2 took ages to load.worked fine

Digital concert 4 (MUSIC DEMO) - music is messed up and couldn't select extra tracks and scrolling message bar messed up.

lotus turbo challenge - loads fine sound good but graphics flickering all over

I will be doing a few more tests, i will only report results which show differences between the two versions

One thing i did notice is after the backlight goes out and the game or demo is running idle in the background, every 2 mins or so the sound (or phone speed) would slow down for about 3-4 seconds then it would pick up again, this was apparent on both versions with no other application running in the background

i even tried this in offline mode and it still did it.Has anyone seen this??

1st thoughts are that the UAE m68k version is a much smoother ride the problems i have experienced may be down to a dodgy rom.

cyclone just seems too inconsistent with overall performance.

Thanks for testing.

I will stick to UAE core then. :)

That makes perfect sense, as switching to 0 presumably makes those things a priority over the CPU emulation as they are graphics related.

Anyway, I think 99% of the time you don't need cycle-exact emulation, its not even enabled by default on WinUAE as I recall. So Auto is quite literally a last resort option but makes sense to keep it as default, as not everyone using the emulator will know what to change.

I am also wondering if PR1.2 will actually improve performance due to fixing those pesky graphics driver bugs, or do they only really affect 3D functionality?

Re: UAE4All Maemo Edition

Is it possible to get my old copy of DH0 running somehow, like in WinUAE E-UAE? Tried to find an answer but the closest I came was a comment that the HD feature was supported in a README in the docs/ folder (which seemed to be the original UAE readme).

If it requires manual config or maybe to push it all into a ADF or something, it's fine but just want to know if it's possible and where to start. If not, is it planned for a future release?

I plan on porting HDD support from E-UAE, but it's not the first priority task.

You may create an issue on the bugtracker to keep me reminded though. ;)

Nice! Looking forward to it, and great work with the emulator and sixaxis so far. Absolutely worth paying for if you put it on OVI (even without DH0 I mean).

You know you spend too much time on maemo.org when the first thing you think of when someone says "not the first priority" is "Planned for Harmattan". :D

In other news, I have added OpenID to my sites but there are a couple of annoying bugs that I am too tired to fix.

First one I think might be a problem on maemo.org as when I first use the OpenID it asks me if I want to "accept" or "accept and remember" permission for my site. I choose to "accept and remember" and it returns to my site claiming it was "cancelled". However when I attempt a second login it is immediately accepted without question, as it indeed did remember the permission.

Second problem, the return URL ALWAYS gets a second forward slash after the domain name. It seems to work alright but I am worried it might break in some browsers. All attempts to remove the rogue slash just break authentication so I get stuck on maemo.org instead of returning to my site. Annoying, although maybe not too much of a problem if I figure how to use immediate mode. However I would rather focus on adding more compatibility options and private messaging to the site, so if it doesn't cause any problems I will leave it alone for now.
