Redundant, and rather personal. Does anyone select the options specifying that they never go anywhere with family or friends? I wonder what kind of phone Nokia would develop for *them*?

Ironically, the survey form didn't seem to work well when I used the N900 browser. My selections disappeared from time to time, and the switch widgets were not rendered well. I had to take the survey using my laptop.

I'm glad Nokia is interested in our opinions. I'm sure they'll get a lot of responses.

I think the "user profile" part was to ensure that the answers you are giving are not random. Some questions were repeated there.

Many (me included) thought nokia forgot about n900 users but this survey gave me hope.

I thought the question about how many applications are you running right now was poor. When I answered the survey, my N900 was running 0 apps in the task switcher. Simply because when I am on my computer (where I was answering the survey from), I don't need to use the N900.

Perhaps they should take a JPSM course lol.

My (cheap, noname) compact uses a 750mAh battery, the N900 uses a 1320mAh battery. So assuming the same flash was used it would eat about half of the battery to take the same amount of flash pictures as my camera can before the battery runs out. Since I'm already recharging my phone every night it wouldn't impact me personally too much.

The K800 did fine with a 900mAh battery and a xenon flash, but was a "dumbphone" so didn't have same power drain to the rest of the HW. Looking at disassembly pictures of it, it has two capacitors in it that takes a fair bit of space. Even if the battery can cope we'd be looking at a size increase so maybe not such a great idea after all?

Hopefully we'll eventually have a little bit of choice between different HW designs (eg with or without keyboard, diff screen sizes etc) and the type of camera could be one.

It seemed to me that some of the questions could have been answered automatically, once they knew you were taking the survey on your N900. Like how many applications you were running, the exact version of software you were running. And of course, automatic collection would be more accurate than user reports.

Done it as well. Focused on lack of office apps and poor PIM functions, as well as phone!
I think the questions are repeated to guage internal validity of the questionnaire. They are asked a little differently for the same reason. It's good they are asking, anyhow.

I enjoy playing with my phone???

Making and receiving calls is a delightful experience???

Most of the questions were phone centric.

For instance: "It is important for me that my phone has computer like functions." and not the other way around.
In fact every thing seemed to be asked about or related to the device as a phone.

And if "1" was strongly disagree and "4" or "10" strongly agree, what was "0"?

Is the question or statement then not counted if "0" was chosen?
If that is the case then: How many folks do you think chose "0" because they had a very strong negative opinion about a question or subject?

Oh well. For what it's worth I took the survey and now I'm going back to playing with my phone ...

Don't know if this has been said before, but it would have been nice if the page had been designed with the N900 in mind - as I think that was the target audience ;-) Had to use the stylus and pan around too much.

I think this is also Nokia's marketing people checking the waters. The question about being able to change the covers, 'I use my mobile phone as a fashion accessory', 'I would have less friends' etc are, I am 99% sure, there to be cross-referenced with the 'I am a hardcore linux geek' questions so they can say X% of hardcore linux users actually care about what people think of their phone, or X% of survey respondants cared less about functionality and more about the cachet of the phone. They'll use it to drive future marketing strategy as well, those questions give it away!

Did it, it was long and filling it entirely on my N900 was a bit of a pain...
Same with me ;) It should have been optimized for N900 in some way.

I filled in the survey, answering the questions carefully. I'm glad Nokia are doing this.

I think they should have had a prize draw for all entries, to encourage participation.

Makes me so happy that Nokia ask our opinions to make the N900 and future devices better. I really enjoyed participating the survey. I hope Nokia will analyze this survey well and make what the users want happen.

People should take this survey instead of *****ing over their phone's missing capabilities or whatever!

I think it's got a really nice layout and some good questions which, most of the time at least, refers to the complaints most people have in these forums.

Will nokia do anything? I definately think so, but as some have pointet out, we can't be sure if this is preparations for n9++, or if they're really going to make a f*** lot of of changes in pr1.3 or whenever they decide to do it.

but hey, stop *****ing, start answering and then we'll see when anything happens!

I always "steal" nokia service manuals, the one in N82 was HUGE!


Anyway,

Great survey, I love that I can usefully express my likings and my b*tchings instead of filling this forum with lousy threads that a mod should merge/delete once in a while :)

I finished the survey not long ago. In general, I think Nokia should put out bugfix releases every month and that they should better leverage the community for software development help.
