Done. Nice to see Nokia listening and asking questions...

Next step...Nokia taking note.

I am not hopeful, but since the N900 is actually a platform, not a "canned" hardware application, Nokia may actually support it and us and provide the much needed updates and upgrades.

Basic things like providing Ovi suite support, increasing battery life to something more usable, and fixing numerous bugs that cause hours of wasted time and a lot of frustration, come to mind.

I agree we are waiting for some bug fixes and some major features like video calling and front camera support.
I can also agree that nokia should get our N900 with maemo5 to a state of relaxation, where we are satisfied and the hardware included in this beast actually works.

I disagree about the battery.
The N900 lasts longer then the average iphone / htc.
You can extend that time period by trying the following :
1. Wifi switcher - Disable your wifi when not used.
2. Auto Disconnect...
3. Lower brightness from full to 1 lower.
4. Use ulv kernels.

This way, I manage to get about 3 days with moderate use, including :
1. Angry birds 30 min a day
2. Browser for 10 minutes about 3 times a day
3. Camera about 10 shots a day
4. A bit poking through gallery
5. 2 hours of music to headphones.
6. Overclocked to 900MHz with ULV kernel. (titan)

I'm glad they didn't do anything like this. A web page, even if it's one from the manufacturer, shouldn't have access to that information about the processes running beside the browser. If the survey had been able to to that it would have been a massive security hole.

They could have done this by releasing a survey application, separate from the browser, but might get less responses when people needed to install something for it.

it is weird that this survey is about the N900 but the site to fill it on is very not so optimized for the n900.. That should really be done better the next time.

Re: Take the official Nokia N900 Survey!

I completed the survey, took my time to write the response too. It was a enjoyable and well thought out survey. I hope Nokia listens and make some improvement for us N900 users. And i hope Nokia will learn and improve their future development with the Maemo platform.

Done.
I hope it will also benefit the owners of the first relased batch of N900's and not only the newer versions/devices.

survey at http://maemo.nokia.com

Have not been to http://maemo.nokia.com in some while.

They have a servey (it takes some time to fill out) but maybe nokia is listening to what we have to say.

Acutally they could just look at the brainstorm ideas.

Maybe someone fells like filling the forms out under http://maemo.nokia.com (it takes about 10 min)

Regards Markus

The questions about multi-tasking were interesting. I wonder if they would consider a new model for multi-tasking.

Disappointing survey.

Lots of questions about fluff (along the lines of "Do you feel you have more friends because of your N900"), lots of questions about features ("How often do you use the camera"), but none about the major design issues (battery life, screen size, multi-touch, phonecall loudness, 1700 vs. 1800MHz frequency bands, etc).

It would take guts to put out a survey with questions like "Has your USB port detached yet?" and "Was it a good idea for us to design the camera opening so that it casts a haze over low-light photos?".

That particular question, and a few others like it, have been in every Nokia survey I've ever taken. Not only that, but nearly identical questions always appear in surveys from other mobile phone manufacturers and cellular service providers. The issue of whether or not mobile phones magically transform us into wonderfully likable, popular people is of critical importance to the entire industry.

Did it... was long and with some ackward questions, but let's hope it helps Nokia improve some features of the new upcoming devices or maybe (fingers crossed) the next software update.

Perhaps they should take a JPSM course lol.

But if you told the truth when answering that question, you also need a course, lol!

Edit: Hopefully, they automatically disregarded your answer if the information they had indicated you weren't using the N900 when answering.

Got it completed. Hope Nokia takes this very seriously and considers all valid inputs for making the N900 a better device.

Actually, I took the survey minutes after I saw that tweet from Jussi on twitter. But posting it now to increase the post count for this USEFUL thread.

It was a pleasure to take the survey. The design was good and questions were well thought out. Would encourage everyone to take it. It is for us.

Thanks Nokia for this.

Yes - I appreciated Nokia asking us these questions. I wonder if they would be open the discussing the results on this site.

True...i found it to be a very wishy washy survey...i dont need a cellphone in order to have friends/social life  the questions they asked were really sad.

Re: Take the official Nokia N900 Survey!

I note that the survey constantly refers to the n900 as a phone and not a tablet. I have seen so many posters correct other posters for mentioning the "phone" word. I must admit, I 1st bout this device as a phone and I think of it 1st as a phone. It's more than a brilliant Linux tablet of course but it's not exactly a very well executed smart phone IMHO.
