Its cool I was only joking look it up there is about a 5 page thread about people disliking the theme. Its cool I let it roll off my back and some of those same people have used some of my other themes after that. Also the funny thing is its highest download theme and the broken Vista theme is the most downloaded theme ever. 2nd most downloaded thing from Garage or it was at one time.

Edit: You know looking at that theme now I need to make the top bar go all the way across and make the Menu icon the Start Icon. Then internet IE or something maybe I'll get back to it one day.

Ditto that! :D

Having the top bar go all the way across will go a long way into making it look like one seemless Start bar with the sidebar icons (Browser, Contacts, Menu, Running Apps) as the "desktop icons" below. That would look pretty slick!

Great job with the new Windows XP theme, and thanks, but it has one minor issue: the bottom blue strip on the Start Menu is truncating some status applets (such as "Connection" when showing a WiMAX connection):

Truncated by Windows XP Theme:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3321/...787612.jpg?v=0

Not-Truncated by Plankton Theme:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3379/...0cf5d7.jpg?v=0

Is there a fix for this? Can you tweak gtkrc to allow Connection applet to show a larger icon?

Thanks! ...and thanks again for a great theme!:p

hey! igot the pic to upload.

i am finding my way around the n800 pretty good but now have questions regatding this screen shot.

1st,.. are the speed test results shown TYPICAL for the n800? my speeds for my desktop are 7848kbs dwn. and 480kbs up. just curious as to what i should expect from my tablet.

2nd...can anyone tell me how to make the default desktop font larger (old eyes) in the LCARS theme?

i also need to know who to ask for advice with theme as i am running diablo and the auto updater keeps prompting me to update tve lcars theme but then tells me that the update conflicts with the installed version.

thanks in advance

Theme font sizes are in /usr/share/themes/theme_name/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
(look for the 'Font definitions' portion of that file).

Sorry for the confusion; you'll have to uninstall the old version of lcars-complete and lcars-extras before you can install the new packages. We've eliminated the need for the lcars-extras package with this new release, but we couldn't automatically remove it during the upgrade; you have to do that yourself, and then grab the new lcars-complete from the extras repository (or from here).

Keeping the thread on track, here are a couple screenshots.

OpenGL stuff sure looks nice on the tablet. If only the framerates were any good. The 3D stuff works great as long as it is in the tiny preview window, but when it goes full screen, it grinds down quickly to painfully slow framerates...

Heres a shot of the new kobayashi there with new icons for personal launcher and personal menu i made for it. If anyone else would like there just get a hold of me and i can send em to ya...i made a package of I think 32 icons, and if anyone needs one for a program that doesnt fit with any of them just let me know and ill see what i can do. Also, does anyone know how i can change the background of the yellownotes applet to exactly match the background of the theme? It doesnt use the "dropper" method to choose a color. In the yellownotes.conf file, the bgcolor says 65535,65535,65535 seems it stays as that no matter what the color is set as, and if i change that it crashes the desktop. Using the large statusbar clocks color selector, which does use the dropper, it says the name of the color that the background is is #BDCEAD and the font color i want is #52594A. Does anyone know of where any other configuration files for yellownotes might be, i couldnt find an entry in the gconf editor for yellownotes.

Also...what is up with ITT today, slower than hell!!!

Screenshot and OMWeather question

1 Attachment(s)
Hi, this is my first post. I've been reading these forums on and off for about a year now, and I finally had a question to ask that hasn't already been answered (as far as I know). So I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone, and show off my screenshot in the process.

My question has to do with OMWeather. In my screenshot, you can see that I've set OMWeather to be just one icon and made the font too small to be seen. I really like how this integrates with the look of my background and theme overall, as it looks just like the sun, or cloud, or moon, or whatever in the sky.

Now, my query, is it possible to set one main icon as I have done, but then have more than one day in the detailed view when you click on the icon? As far as I can tell, the detailed view and the main view both show the same number of days/icons. And, as I assume, if there's no way of changing it, does anybody like my idea, enough that perhaps possibly the creators of OMWeather might be willing to make that an option in a future release?

Anywho, hopefully I made myself clear, and at the very least, maybe a few enjoyed my screenshot. I thank you all in advance for any help you can throw my way, and it was nice to finally get to say hi to you all.

Thanks again,
Kade

Well, I need to thank you. Over the course of a couple weeks, when I first got my n810, I made every aspect of the theme and made or remade almost every icon for everything on the tablet. So, thank you for appreciating it, I wish I could show off all the icons I made, it took me a very long time. I'm not sure what I would need to upload for you, if you would like to use it, though. It's been over a year since I was playing with this, and I can't quite remember anymore. Is it the index.theme? Does that contain all the icons and the modified desktop theme? If someone just lets me know what I'd need to do, I'll get it out for you.

I can point you to the background that I used now, though, Tux Vs. MS Butterfly.

Anywho, thanks again, and hopefully some out there has an idea of how to modify OMWeather's detail view...anybody...anybody. :)

Here ya go, if you want the normal application menu icons changed, you have to use emelfm2 to manually replace the stock icons for everything, they dont all reside in the same folders. If you dont know how or where to place the icons or update the icon cache (you have to do that even if you are using them just for personal launcher and personal menu) dont hesitate to ask. :)

Hi Kade,

I didn't realise you had hand crafted the icons for your theme - great job. I do not know about themes/icons/etc, whether it is just a case of index.theme. All I have done to date is install themes from downloaded .deb files.
Perhaps I may find a little time soon to investigate what is required to share themes/icons and get back to you.

Regards,
John

Re: Show off your screenshots

Andrewfblack, youll need to install emelfm2 first, if you havent already got it. Then navigate to /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps in one pane, and in the other pane, navigate to whereever you have the icons stored. put JUST THE ICONS, not the folder in which they are contained into /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps. Then open xterm and run... sudo gainroot

gtk-update-icon-cache -f /usr/share/icons/hicolor

Then after it says "cache file created successfully" you close xterm and either reboot or kill hildon desktop. Putting them in this location only makes them accessible to Personal Launcher and Personal Menu. If you want to change all the icons in the built in application menu, you will again have to use emelfm2 and replace all the original icon files. Most of these are located in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon , but a few (at least for me) are located in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/64x64/apps , or a few other locations thereabouts, you may just have to look around. I even had to edit a few .desktop files so the icons would change. If you have any questions about specific locations for program icons, just ask. But always remember to run the icons cache update. Good Luck! :)

I'm in no way suggesting this... but there's nothing to say you couldn't write a small daemon (that would be installed along with the theme) that could accomplish such things as sending random dbus messages to open applications, or displaying some "error message dialog" type screens... ;) ...and have it schedule itself for the "next invocation" via the alarmd daemon...

qwerty12 has packaged up the xscreensaver package for maemo. One of the screensavers available is a very realistic looking crash-screen simulator. It has crash screens for all kinds of operating systems, all the way back to DOS and Amiga days. I bet you could set one up that just did simulated Windows errors.

Another fun thing to do would just to throw random dialog boxes with typical Windows error messages in them... You could use gxmessage or zenity for that...
