Dell 7 and 10 inch tablets

Engadget leaks some very limited info on upcoming devices from Dell, with vague hints for launch late 2010 and early 2011.

The gadgets look good, but why the long wait?

I think 7 inches is where the action is, and I expect Nokia and Apple to be there as well as Dell. (and Kindle!)

I have a 7". Too small. 10" is definitely the sweet spot.

I have a 7” SmartQ and find it ideal for one handed use. For example eBook reading at night in bed, lying on my side and holding the device by one edge.

Any bigger screen – and therefore heavier device – would be uncomfortable and probably be too difficult to hold and so would slip out of my hand.

I could be wrong of course and have yet to hold a 10” device in one hand to see.

to bad i suspect dell will be gunning for a telco deal, resulting in the non-contract devices being overly expensive to make the contracts look good.

would be interested in trying a 10" for pdfs and such, to much scrolling on a small screen. But for carrying around all day, 5" is max i would bother with.

I use Calibre to convert text intensive pdfs to epub.
http://calibre-ebook.com/

They can then be easily read on my 7" screen.

If I were looking for a pocketable, 5" would be my max, yes.

But what I'm looking for is a netbook replacement ... and 5" and 7" tablets are just too small for that. 9" or 10" is just about perfect.

7 inch would be ideal imo, just hope it's not priced to to high. if not what'll be the point of buying one.

Well a good thing is that they're gonna have both 7'' and 10''. I am also interested in real pdfs (no conversion), however I don't even read them in my computer for extended time, e-Ink or pixelQi is a must for this. Otherwise I'll lose my eyesight way too soon and not be able to enjoy all the cool gadgets coming our way...
