I think the slow Windows file transfer bug was fixed in Windows Vista, so any Vista with SP1 and Win 7 system shouldn't have that problem..

I always use my N900 in "Mass storage" mode.

When I'm in WinXP Windows let's me know that the N900 could work faster if I enabled "HiSpeed 2.0" mode. Unluckily there's no option anywhere for me to do this. Using the N900 on Ubuntu however is a different story. I'm transferring gigabytes within minutes. I really can't figure it out. Suffice to say, however that I do my file transfers in Ubuntu.:)

You need to plug in the n900 cable into different usb ports on your computer. All usb slots are not usb 2.0. You may have four usb slots but only two usb 2.0. Try different slots and then maybe blow the dust from the connectors to make sure it is firmly attached. Hope it helps.

put memory card into a card reader, that has always been much faster at moving files than using the cable, for me anyway
