Re: Telescope: Application Manager Tool

That video is showing that the Diablo5 theme is ncoming along very nicely. Can someone tell me two things please.

Does the new theme work with the builtin chat/IM client, as with Frediablo the text is unreadable, as it is on other dialogs as well witth that theme.

Will the theme be packaged with the bits and bobs to change the layout of the home screen? Or will that be seperate.

Looking forward to a release.

All dark themes have problems on Diablo mainly its with 3rd party apps that don't pull their text color from hildon, tear is one of the big applications that uses black text no matte what you set your text color to. Calculator is another application in the youtube video when he clicks buttons in calculator nothing shows because background and text is black there.

This was a reason why I stopped creating this theme a month ago... I thought it's impossible to make it comfortable to use. Actually I started creating a light theme... but a lot of people asked me to finish this one. So MAYBE I will release a Maemo5 - similar theme with bright colors.

it will be a one .deb file.

Hmm.. A Maemo 5 theme with slightly different colours, such as light to mid gray for the backgrounds could work well. Nothing to say that it needs to be completely black.

I really like the look of the top bar, and the widescreen look. I'm currently using the built in Echo.

How did you fix the color problem in tear?

Of course, i can add option for another wallpaper for portrait mode. But if Telescope and hildon-desktop will draw their wallpapers differently, it will look strange.
But hildon-desktop draws its wallpaper badly. Should telescope do it so too?

What kind of color problem exactly are you talking about?

Maybe tear has been fixed but in the past no matter when tear always used black text in address bar. It has been like 8 months since I've worked on a Diablo theme though.

Functional portrait mode (so the icons don't get cut off) should out-prioritize how well it looks - in my opinion. And if people don't like it, then let them to suggest a better method

Good video indeed. Now, we need to wait for that diablo5 theme... How about a pre-alpha release? Ok, I'm patient, but you are holding out a carrot with us... :)

Re: Telescope: Application Manager Tool

Just found a silly bug. Plugged my charger in to my n810 after the battery died, and for some reason, when I look at it now, the "battery full" screen is inside of a telescope window with my wallpaper in the background (as if the "battery full" screen were the only application running and telescope was launched). Sadly, I cant use telescope to close the charging screen.

It's a saying we have in America when something really exciting is about to happen so we begin to do a countdown for it.

For example:

T minus 3...
2..
1...

We are go for launch!

Crowd screams and goes crazy! :D

For Silvermountain, it might be more of a nerd thing though. *lol*

Kroll 2010-05-07 20:15

Re: Telescope: Application Manager Tool

ok, but why T-3? What "T" means?)

Addison 2010-05-07 20:20

Re: Telescope: Application Manager Tool

T means "out of time".

This comes from a countdown convention used in by both the American military and NASA.

yes... thread-jacking is BAD ! :-)

I found the Telescope thread thanks to the announcement on MWN. And the tear-improvements sub-thread hidden in it thanks to maacruz :-)

As I remember there is some futures:
— new scroll method
— less likely that you "catch" the link when you scroll through a page
— new scroll bar (very tiny)
— RSS support
— better .swf support
— open page in a new window (hold hardware menu button (under the 5-way navigator) and tape the link)
— scroll by «space» button and scroll up by «shift+space» buttons.
— some modifications of address bar

Thanks a lot Kroll ! It's good to see a new Tear version after all this time...

The use of the "space" key is something I had already asked of Bundyo, as I also use a N900, and it's become a habit... In the same spirit, could we also have the backspace key as "page back" ?

One other irritating bug Tear has had since the beginning is that when you define a home page to load at start, the browser does not start a network connection if none is active. You need to select a bookmark first, which sort of defeats the purpose if your hope page has your bookmarks in it :-)

BTW, these and others are in Bundyo's bug tracker...

In tear-improvements Shift+Space does page-up. Of course, this is trivial to make backspace to it so, if you like. And automatic network connection for homepage is easy too. But actually, i have several feature-requests pending for next tear-improvements release, but not enough time time to implement them and release new version :(

That is always the case, unfortunately :-)

BTW, shift-space is just fine for "page-up". By "page-back" I meant the previous page in browser history, not "page-up"...

Mitrandir 2010-05-08 17:35

Re: Telescope: Application Manager Tool

Escape works as page-back in Tear, just like in MicroB. I will try to release new tear-improvements on next week with a couple of trivial features, and include mapping 'page-back' on backspace.
May be tear-improvements deserves its own thread? :)

Thanks ! I find that when holding the N810 with the keyboard open, and using space to scroll, hitting backspace to go back is more natural than the "escape" key.

I agree, there should be a real [Announce] thread and it submitted to MWKN or whatever the Maemo news thing is called.

Bring down the stars to us please. :D Just joking.

This shows that there is still demand for good, working maemo4 apps, even if the majority moved to 5.
(Not to speak of the quiet masses. This thread will reach 5k views in a short time... and the first post was only 3 weeks ago...)

Sorry for hijacking this thread but I don't want to open new one for just an alpha version of my hobby-theme.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ibq4BLtuz8
http://skriblovsky.net/maemo/install.png
A lot of things is undone (virtual keyboard for stylus etc)
A few things can't be done (built-in chat application use black color for text even if I change the value of it to white...)

Please don't remove the package while theme is active.
All settings will be recovered if you remove the package.

DO NOT FORGET TO REBOOT your tablet after installation.

Downloading now!! :D

Update:

Installed it and applied the theme.
VERY nice theme.

Some questions though.

The screenshot below is of my desktop right after having installed the theme and not changed anything.

1) As you can see I still got the icons on the left side, I thought the theme would remove them (maybe I was wrong),

2) For some reason the icon for the third icon got replaced with a Mozilla/Thunderbird icon. Odd.

3) What is the grey box in the upper left corner for?

4) If I click on the 'Downarrow' at the top of the screen I see that there is now a direct link to the same menues options that the first icon on the left takes me to (even using a smaller version of that icon).

5) Do I need to have Personal Menu installed?

The theme is GORGEOUS when using the applications.
I tried out the App Manager, microB, Vagalume (looks great), etc. I can seriously say that my N810 has never looks this good before.

Just curious about the desktop appearance :)

Oh, I'm sorry. Please, remove the \usr\share\icons\Diablo5\scalable\hildon\qgn_grid_ tasknavigator_contactactive.png and qgn_grid_tasknavigator_contact.png
I will remove it in the next release!

It appeared because of TaskNavigatorbar doesn't turned off.

Tasknavigator should be killed. The package has to remove it after reboot...

No.

about "Home" on statusbar on the desktop... I'll tell you how to remove this inscription a bit later, ok?

BTW, It should looks like this
