@Akkumura actually I have dropped=increased MyPaint N900 default zoom level to 200%. (Preferences-View-Default zoom) I crop and scale images in Photoshop to fit -> 620 x 372 pixels. "800x480px" Some of those scraps are messed with photoshop quite heavily, but I try to avoid that in future, if possible. @object nice to see you there around and nice portrait you did. Yes my N900 is still running strong @1.15GHz. (three years now. knock knock.) I am bit worried because there is no still good replacement device if this happen to die. (Nokia, Jolla anybody please.. :D) Almost everything is perfect with N900 as a sketching tool + Pressure sensitivity and "no need special expensive stylus" + Keyboard = lot of shortcuts = speed. + MyPaint "good device not make good tool, if software lacks" + Size "small please, fit to pocket" sorry for long post. :) |

@Tone I was thinking of getting a backup N900 device, not just for painting but for git and vim. ie. I always fall asleep while thumbing N900 in bed coding. Anyway I am also thinking of getting note 2 or 8, coz I want to port my apps and frameworks over.. May be it's time to move on for me.. (So I can clock this one without being worried :D )

It has been a while, TMO.
Unfortunately in all that "while" timeframe I've been focusing on the desktop, so I've gotten lazier on the N900... |

All right, now that I have a spare line art (drawn on desktop) to color just to see how I can go about it on the N900...
Edited in MyPaint 1.1.0 (desktop). Originals for this are already done and colored, this is just a practice run ;) |

Sweet angel dog, you should continue that from scrap to a finished piece, very cool cartoonish feel to it :D

Re: Look what I drew on my phone
I should really use my N900 and small notebook as a analog - > digital combo.
That said, this is sketched and colored in N900's MyPaint anyway :p Probably a character from a certain anime series, but I am not even sure if I pulled off the general looks anyway. Edited in PC's GIMP, though. http://i.imgur.com/HTh85UK.png |

Was thinking of getting a new drawing pad so I tried both galaxy note 8 and 2 at a shop, but I wasn't satisfied..They are not comparable with my non-oc N900... I think the apps were too slow.. much less responsive.. and it didn't feel better in my hands. I wonder if MyPaint will work better in there or could there be a way to make the brushes to utilize all cores if possible. BTW, I never get MyPaint to run properly with OC'ed N900 however.. either crashing during starting or using. It's already better than those Samsungs at this point, however.

Just awsome digi drawings:)

I agree with the galaxy note phone/tablets, I used a 10.1 months ago at a store and was disappointed by the performance, then I used a note 2 and same problem, and it's sad to see the same problem with note 8. the only hope with them is to dual boot debian natively and run mypaint from it, so far that's only been done with the note 10.1. However here are the things to look out for: 1 Asus is releasing a Fonepad stylus soon with an atom cpu that I think might be faster than current ARM cpus, and since it's Asus it might be easier to dual boot GNU/Linux, 2. Lenovo is releasing an 8 inch windows tablet with active digitiser. 3. Wacom are going to announce their own portable tablet in a few week :) looking forward to this because it will be the first computer tablet made specifically for artists, I hope they put a nice matte coating on the screen so it feels like a resistive screen :) |

Quick message...
Sea in Liquid+XPaint. By the way, does "Pick Color" in MyPaint work for you? Best wishes. |

@Wikiwide - I use "Pick Color" a lot (mapped to worn out "r" key) and it works ok, very rarely it could "locked" = color box and pipette cursor stay on screen and only solution is to reboot N900. Couple days ago I have to do so.. and N900 uptime was 22 days. So it is not so big problem here. |

Re: Look what I drew on my phone
While whole picture is awesome, won't you mind a little constructive critic?
From down to the line of (half)nose and ear, this lady is perfect painting. Now, above, something strange happens - both proportions and her face shape becomes weird, giving her face a little demonic/metrosexual mix. Unless it was done on purpose, I think that part could use some more tries. Thanks for sharing your awesome pieces of art! /Estel |

Re: Look what I drew on my phone
Hey, improved image of that lady is very good. She is still quite "strange", but not in a bad way - this time it looks like convention of image, quite "natural".
Now, on that last picture, both "mosquito man" (as I'm calling him) and b&w lady, are just perfect, no comments here ;) /Estel |

Re: Look what I drew on my phone
Hey, with all these characters, you could create short animated films!
And use photographs of real world as moving background. I just don't know the best movie editor for this task... Preferably, open-source and ported to Maemo... Best wishes. |
Re: Look what I drew on my phone
Better yet, draw caricatures of Maemo's political figures ;)
