if you get an error from application manger->update then it's either your router is blocking you from access the repository or the server is simply down. OTA or Over The Air update required atleast 50MB free in rootf. Xterminal-> type df -h to see your available and used space. for more information please visit Wiki site for help. |
Re: N900 Noob: Checking firmware version, and downloading new firmware
My N900 did this as well... The way I fixed it was to force my N900 to use a user defined IP... And now it works :)

Re: N900 Noob: Checking firmware version, and downloading new firmware
NSU: i should really have thought of that.
Thanks for the advice everyone. Unfortunately, i'l probably have many more silly questions in the coming days though. |
Re: N900 Noob: Checking firmware version, and downloading new firmware
So i just gone done running NSU... and all my applications are gone.
Did something go amiss, or will i have to reinstall them every time i update the firmware? Thanks |
Re: N900 Noob: Checking firmware version, and downloading new firmware
...and when i go into the updates, now it says no updates are avaiable.
Help! (please?) |
Re: N900 Noob: Checking firmware version, and downloading new firmware
You should do a backup before updating or you do have to reinstall things. Since you are new at this it's not bad to get some extra experience anyway, I think.

Re: N900 Noob: Checking firmware version, and downloading new firmware
Ah!
...and the other problem is my modem. Connects to updates no problem over a mobile network. Turned firewall off made no difference. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks |
Re: N900 Noob: Checking firmware version, and downloading new firmware
You could have just gone to Settings > About product.
That would give you quite a bit of information. The latest firmware as of now is PR1.1.1, or 3.2010.02-8.002 EDIT: And as far as I know, updating the firmware using NSU (?) or the Flasher will erase your settings, contacts, and application list. That's what the Backup application is for. |
