Two N900 models seen in the wild...
 

Hi All,

On the week-end my mate brough home is brand new N900 which he recieved from work.
He flashed it with Maemo5 and here is what I have noticed.

His device is slightly thinner than mine, I'll try and get images.
Also version numbers are as follows.
Mine (older pre-ordered model): 3.2010.02-8.203.1
Mine (brand new model):3.2010.02-8

The numbers look very much the same, but they are still differen't

Same version, different firmware (Global/US/UK etc..)

Both yours? Either way, older preordered model is running the UK non-vodafone variant firmware, the new one is is running the global firmware - That's the only difference between these two version numbers, and either of you can switch between UK and Global firmware as you see fit.

OPk cool so mine is the UK one and his is the Global variant, which I will be flashing to when pr1.2 comes.

However why would mine be slightly bigger than his, his is definintly a a few millimeters smaller than mine in size, and might even be lighter but I need to double check that on a scale.

This is something that pretty much won't be believed until you're able to provide detailed photos demonstrating the difference.

Ok I'llt ake the pictures, but even showing pictures isn't going to change the reason why this would happen, so while I'm taking pictures for the non-believers our there, would someone like to take a stab at why there might be two slighly different N900 form factors?

open them up .. its the only way to know for sure
