serious problem
 
i have some serious problem with memory... i've removed all the applications, update n900 with current firmware, now i dont have any application and my mass storage is also empty.. but i only have 75 mb of space to install any applications.. and if i download any songs it dosent shows in media player or in file manager.. if i got any msg. it says memory full delete some data.. please help me

you will rarely get above 100mb free in rootfs - as the system is installed in there
76mb is considered very good! :D

The whole app does not install itself in there, only parts.... - so when looking in the app manager and seeing a 5mb app - the whole 5mb will not take up space in rootfs....

usually apps take less than 500kb from rootfs, most take less than 100k rootfs (not fact, but random observations from extras-testing packagetesting)

Well since you have a thread I won't reply to your PM ;)

/home is full, this will cause your songs and photos to disappear, what did you fill it with?
Try
du -h /home | grep M
and post the output here

Ah - that problem. Have you installed/uninstalled any apps recently? openjazz has been suggested as causing this, but nobody's been able to see how.

Try running:

rm -rf /home/home
If you get permission problems, try:

rm -rf /home/home/*
You'd also best check whether you still have the /opt symlink (as others have reported this missing):

ls -l /opt
