UK Only - Did your N800 come with a pouch?

Hi,

A question for anyone who has bought a N800 in the UK. Did you get a storage pouch in the box? According to the Nokia UK website it should come with a storage pouch, yet I've seen two boxes now without the pouch!

Thanks
James

Yes, with pouch from Nokia direct. Where did you see them? Are they in shops?

Thanks everyone, your making me very depressed. :(

I bought mine from The Link, and it didn't have a pouch. The seal was broken on the box when it arrived. Initially I thought it had been "losted" / removed from the box, but I was passing a Dixons Tax Free yesterday and their N800 didn't have a pouch in the box either.

The Link and Dixons are both part of the DSG group, coincidence???

Take it back and explain, but don't expect much sympathy...
The pouch is not very useful though, it is one size too big and is too soft to prevent the screen backlight turning on in your pocket. Search on this forum and you will get the full picture.

I personally hate the pouch. My n800 had some some nasty falls with it, because of the extreamly slippery inside. They could have atleast added a flap or zipper to prevent this. If you cant get a hold of the origonal I hear the PSP (Playstation Portable) pouches are the same size as the n800.

The pouch is indeed lame and all,
and after one close call (preventing a fall),
I turned my pouch inside-out.

Now it is furry like a lamb on the outside,
and the suede-like inside seems to grip a bit better.

At worst, it remains a reversible fix....

I think I'll forget about the pouch and start looking for a "hard" case for my N800, I've been looking at some of the other threads and have got a few ideas.

:) :) :)

Which airport was that? I'm going on a trip via Heathrow soon.

Rich,

I know the Dixons Tax Free at Gatwick and Aberdeen both had the N800 in stock at the beginning of the week, and at a very good price of £238.29.

If you look at this page on the Dixons Tax Free website, they encourage you to check stock / reserve / or order before you get to the airport, then all you have to do is pay and pick it up.

The other good thing is after you have travelled, if you have second thoughts (or the wife finds out!) you have 90 days to take it back either to the airport if you are travelling again, or you can take it back to any highstreet Currys.digital store for a full refund.

James

P.S. the N800 isn't listed on their website but I think the order code is 554720

Dixons aka The Link aka Currys Digital are notorious for selling as new goods returned by customers which were reported as faulty but the staff crudely test and think are OK.

I was about to post a long diatribe about various stories, including first-hand tales from friends, but just google for them and there's loads of stories - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixons

Re: UK Only - Did your N800 come with a pouch?

p.s. moral of the story - if you MUST buy from DSG, examine the packaging carefuly, don't accept anything with a broken seal, and don't trust promises that "it was opened to inspect it" or similar. If possible, break the seal in the shop and verify the item is complete... if it's at an airport you might not get much chance to go back there soon!

Just purchased from Link and mine came with pouch. Seal broken and no handbook or should there be one?

cheers

Bought mine from mobileplace.co.uk for £200 plus VAT and came with the pouch. I actually like it as a lightweight sleeve for inside a jacket pocket but it's not exactly protective other than from scratches.

The Link, Dixons, Currys Digital are all the same company - DSG. They are notorious for taking used goods back from customers who've had problems, repackaging and selling as new. This wouldn't be quite so bad if they had staff who could actually properly check that the items really are exactly as they were originally sold and complete. I had a friend who took a broken CD player system back with a faulty speaker, the replacement also turned out to be faulty, the replacement for that was the original one she took back (she'd noted the serial number).

I would only buy from DSG if I inspected the item and made sure it was still sealed in the box... then I'd open it and check it was complete, undamaged, working etc.

Sorry if this is bad news.
Paul
