May I suggest adding window.set_title("VertSMS") to set the title of the app to VertSMS? vertsms.py doesn't look too good :P
Also it seems the numbers aren't all in line together (mainly 5, 9 and 6), changing the amount of spaces in main() fixes that.

yeah got the timer working. it was pretty hard to spot but the app outputs now pretty much debugging data to command line ;)

I'll just rearrange the buttons a bit from aspidites version (green button and icons are better than mine) and leave contact -thing for tomorrow. I'll push waht I've done before I go to sleep.

i have some questions bout that

1// is it possible to merge it in the conversations window? maybe with a PortraitMODE button?

2// is it possible to use the smileys and avatars as the normal conversations gui uses?

3// interactions with the address book? i mean merge contacts or save a new one also from the sms text directly?

1 - Isn't the conversations app closed source? Otherwise it hav already been integrated. One idea that might work is adding a button to the power menu that closes conversations and opens vertsms. Not sure how practical or feasible this is, though.

2 - can be done, will work on that next. (going to work now so don't hold your breath :)

3 - I think that would require us to be able to interact with the database mentioned earlier in this thread. Seems doable, but probably won't be doable any time soon (eg, low priority)

Watching this sucker close. This is the one thing I have always wanted on the N900, vertical texting. :D

Outstanding work in such a short time already. Keep it up. I'll be lurking.

phew.

I realized I can't get any sleep if I stop before address book is working. so I just pushed a version to gitorious that should be working enough for extras-testing.

e: so the app works now 100% without landscape keyboard.

so MohammadAG, if you want you can now grab the newest version from git, pack it and upload to extras-devel. I can create a thread for feedback to another category tomorrow/when the package is uploaded.
