Just wanted to let everyone know that everything is working fine for me. I updated last night, tried almost everything and so far so good. I didn't flash the mass memory only rootfs. Restored all the programs (some didn't restore, but i don't care about those) I even flashed Lehto 950/500 kernel and so far so good. Knock on wood. I didn't disable all the transitions for a faster experience. I don't think that help if the FW has bugs in it, but just wanted to let everyone know.

Don't panic:

You need an old package from PR1.1.1? - just download it and reinstall it -

apt-get install --reinstall cmt-firmware-rx51=8.2.2009.47-1.97+0m5

Until an official PR1.2 is released - it is available in Nokia repository.

EDIT: you will lose that possibility after Nokia issues an official PR1.2 but for now you can downgrade it easily.
EDIT2: If you will need it after PR1.2 publish - just ask me, I have it on my disk ;)

Yes, some people may be having problems but these are probably isolated cases..... and not generally applying to everyone.

I have no probles whatsoever and will probably not. Having said that, I knew it was risky and went ahead anyway.

I always say ...... "THE BLEEDING EDGE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE !" and certainly not for the faintfhearted.

just backup your PM 0-400, simlockdata, and certs with JAF before updating .... when you want to downgrade just restore the pm and the certs...

not really desperation , some people just like to try new things and mess with their gadgets , some people do the same with cars , some with remote control toys the list could go on , fact is people like to tinker and mess around with soem things they buy its part of the fun

in some people eyes messing around with their gadgets is obvously not a good idear but to other people its alot of fun

however is there really a need to slag people off because they like to mess around with there gadgets?? i dont really think there is and that people throwing out insults are probably worse then the harmless n900 user that wanted to mess with his gadget

i appreciate the warnings and appreciate it probably wasnt legal and shouldnt have been disclosed on this website etc but calling other users names and labbelling them desperate is taking things a bit to far specially when they have just posted about a problem to warn other users

Why again are we calling this an RC? I mean, this is the firmware that is being sold in HK right?

Also, while important to understand that a downgrade renders the gsm radio unusable, this was already the case with previous firmwares as was stated before in this and many other threads.

Finally, I don't think installing 1.2"RC"(HK) is going to leave any of us stuck without option to upgrade to 1.2"NA" or 1.2"Global".

This is why we all bought the N900, so someone in some country can seed a firmware, we can talk about it, then decide whether to use it for ourselves.

p.s. I guess I'm just sick of all the China bashing.

I suppose than the ones with pr1.1.1 must downgrade to pr1.1 until bugfixes then...
Maemo5 is FULL OF BUGS. Always.
I don't encourage nobody to "upgrade"
But don't be cinycal, I'm not trolling, but "eh, boys, you are crazy, there're bugs!" speaking about maemo5 is ironically.

I love features and can survive possible issues.

Don't know if someone have mentioned this.. but you should try to reflash both RX-51 and Vanilla. It might have been caused by some program you had before.

No, you don't need it. To restore an old SIM/cellphone/3G firmware just use this:

apt-get install --reinstall cmt-firmware-rx51=8.2.2009.47-1.97+0m5

Until an official PR1.2 is released - it is available in Nokia repository.

That's very unlikely, there are several reports of newer builds and remember it's easier for Nokia to release HK PR1.2 as it does not have to work as an OTA update there.

has any1 noticed that we got a lot oft space in rootfs??

i had about 5MB free rootfs before reflash @ PR1.1.1

Now i have (with the same apps installed not more not less) 92.2 MB free rootfs... @ pr1.2

any1 know y??

This is more like it. A lot of people don't know what they are doing and this upgrade too much for them.

if you don't know how to use the flasher, you shouldn't bother "upgrading"

PR1.1 has much more problems, believe me - I filled a lot of bugs.

The reason for your opinion, I believe - PR1.1.1 has too much annoying bugs related with video. Personally, I don't understand why we still haven't that bug fixed in any way.

can't even calculate in how many places the actions are STUPID.

once in a while bold and stupid is hard to tell apart, but this really isn't one of those situations.

I'd say installing packages from sdk repo to get pr1.2 parts is BOLD. downloading a random file somewhere and flashing it to your device......

when i saw pr 1.2 leaked out i wanted a fresh start and i reflashed eMMC and flashed pr1.2 and conversations fails so i dont it wont help AlMehdi
