at least developers should tell us WTF is going on. its the 3rd month now still waiting. wats with this secrets? stuck with a half complete device. is it really too much to tell us when to expect the update. fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I am starting to suspect that we will indeed never see the PR1.2, but that we will be graced by a PR1.3 or whatever it will actually be called.

Pure speculation, since this thread is about speculation, is that PR1.2 may have been slated for broad release, but instead transitioned into a Chinese language device specific OS (China, Hong Kong and Taiwan) where N900 was recently launched. Thus there is no more PR1.2, there is something else in the works.

In the vein of the overall N900 strategy, Nokia is now using the Chinese language PR1.2 to beta test it before making yet another version for the non-Chinese market release, who will in turn beta test this version before a new device is released... ;-)

Maybe they only had PR1.2 on one computer, it crashed because it was running windowsXP home and so they scraped the idea and have all gone over to MeeGo.

Rumor has it that PR1.2 has reached week 16, i.e. 10.2010.16-X should be around on the desk in a lab of Finland somewhere.

the flash 10.1 came out today for Android.
nokia wanted to implement it(lets hope)
and maybe thats why pr1.2 is pretty late.

No you don't.

PR 1.2 has been ready many weeks already, now they are just tweaking it. Every new feature has been said here thousands of times already. They are not implementing new features anymore.

Why is it so hard to undestand? Since the beta already leaked, there are no new included features in beta stage. They are only trying to get rid of bugs.

A Nokia employee just told me that the new firmware (PR 1.2) is expected to be released on the 24th of this month (or the following day at most)!

Just wanted to let you know. :)

No, on a webinar about the new Nokia Qt SDK. At the end of the webinar I asked about the release date of the firmware, and he told us it should be about the 24th (or the following day). At least that's their schedule...

I dont believe it will be released the 24th or 25th of may now, but its plausible considering that it seams that Adobe have had Flash 10.1 running in Maemo on the N900 for a while now (im guessing stable too) and it might have been a deal with Nokia that it would be released on the N900 no earlier than (or not much before) on platforms like Android....

Since Flash 10.1 is out on Android soon, and Nokia might have had it running on none leaked more updated versions of PR1.2 and they might release it soon

We will see in a few days I guess, I will still not hold my breath for PR1.2

It seems the current firmware is on week 19 and it looks like it will be released by the end of May, this information is from Blaxx from maemo fanatics who asked Nokia reps at the Toronto Maemo meetup. He says that the Nokia reps were pretty much guaranteeing a release next week sometime.

Nokia have always led the way, and one of the reasons I stuck with them was the support they gave to the devices....

All of a sudden it just seems the support has vanished! Yeah they'll bring 1.2 out, but no doubt it wont fix everything, and then what? We haven't a clue whether they'll even bother with it after that.

Ill stick with n900 now for a long time cuz it is great, but it could be sooo much better with a bit of nokia TLC. Pity really.

Nope, the latest is PR 1.1.1
Try updating using application manager!

Nope. It would be *.2010.*.* for anything after PR1.1.1 and higher.

Actually it is the latest major update , PR 1.1 , the version that is most current is PR 1.1.1. is considered a minor ( preparatory) update for bigger (better?) PR 1.2 :)
