You are wrong, he is right. Despite what you think he is MORE likely to be helped by the people that count because he has the right attitude.

Please refrain from your language.

I think you'll find your as useless as he is then. I'm sticking up for someone who asked for help and as usual... search this and read that instead of just being helpful. New memers are going to be scared of coming here for help the way you lot go on. You didn't invent any kind of rules here so if your not willing to be of any assistance.. don't post anything at all. I'll help anyone here in any way i can regardless of what the question is.

Try this -

gconftool-2 -s /apps/fmms/useragent --type string "SoftBank/1.0/705NK/NKJ001[/Serial] Series60/3.0 NokiaN73/3.06.50 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1"

Now for the fMMS with Maxis.

Wait, don't you mean you're sticking up for someone who was falsely claiming that fmms was no longer supported, because the author was to busy to reply to him within a day, and the documentation was several versions out of date? Extechop wasn't asking for help, he was replying to someone else asking for help.

So instead of helping, you're calling me names, after I wrote up a reply noting that the topic (the creation/existance of an APN) does happen still based on fmms settings, and suggested that he search/read the thread to see confirmation of that?

Who's the prick here?

Make sure all settings are correct because in theory it should stop as soon as fMMS manages to send the "I downloaded the message now"-message, which requires correct settings.

I've been seeing this issue with every FMMS version I've installed for the last 6mo or so. I'm also on TMobile USA and I can confirm it's not fixed in the latest version (1.3). For every MMS I receive, I get about 3-4 notifications and 3-4 duplicates in FMMS.

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

Hello frals,
One or two things I have noticed (anyone else?) which could be worked on in future versions if you get the chance. Using 1.3.0 on PR1.3.

After opening a new message and returning to the view listing the messages, the message is still highlighted as new (i.e. the view does not seem to update)

Also if I delete a message (long press and select delete from main view), the view is not updated and the deleted message is still listed. If I click on the deleted message, it displays "downloading MMS" for a few seconds and remains on the main view (i.e. it does not open the deleted MMS)

Thanks

Hey, I kinda did bad and posted a separate thread on my problem with fMMS here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=68405

Basically its trouble setting it up properly with my Telenor Norway provider, Im sure, however I cannot for the life of me understand what Im doing wrong.

Sorry about the mixup, should have posted it in this thread.

But alas, such is life. If anyone can help me out on this I would be sincerely grateful.

I'm having a bit of a problem with fMMS.

I Installed v1.30 and I can't send because I have an error: "Invalid Number".

I've tried installing and uninstalling fMMS with no luck. I manually removed the settings, again with no luck.

What can I do?

Red your post on the thread you made again and noticed that you had it working before a reflash. If you made a backup you can just restore it and the fMSS settings will be restored too.

slai 2011-01-15 22:51

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

yeah, I dont have a backup though. My n900 was totally screwed at the point of the reflash. All I got off of it was a folder of exported contact cards and my music/picture files.

Seeing as how Ive had fmms working flawlessly for a year or something I didnt think much of it, honestly. I could've never foreseen such trouble =( ...

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

Anyone know how to address the following issue:

I have fMMS with a bunch of picture messages, maybe over 60-70 of them still on my N900. Only way I'm seeing to delete them is literally one by one.

Is there a way to select all or more than one and delete? That would be helpful since if I have to do each one seperate, it would take very long and be super annoying.

Any help would be appreciated!

There's a way to quickly delete them all:

Open X-terminal and type in:

rm -r /home/user/.fmms/

That command will delete all the fmms message including sent & received one.

Sorry I haven't replied for ages, not been on the forums (not even used my N900 for a while). I checked my N900 and the settings are the ones I sent you, even the gconftool-2 string is exactly the same. Ensure you have Rude mode on the connection, not Havoc.

Are you using a monthly paid silver Softbank SIM card?

My MMS settings on Vodafeckers uk are as follows mate, and they work perfectly for me;

Access Point Name: wap.vodafone.co.uk
MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
User name: wap
Password: user
HTTP Proxy 212.183.137.12
Port: 8799

All advanced settings (IP, Primary and Secondary DNS) are all set to 0.0.0.0

Resize is medium and connection setting is havoc.

Might be the connection setting or alternatively, check your APN's (Settings > Internet Connections > Connections) and ensure that you have a Vodafone MMS setting in there. If not you may need to download fAPN from the repo's and set one up manually - although fMMS should be doing this for you anyway.

If you do need to set up an APN let me know.

Frals

Once again let me thank you for this app and all the work you have done. The last update was great.

I have a couple of things to request or point out.

When one clicks reply the # does not automatically go the the to box. You have to pick it to reply. In sms its automatic. Can this be fixed?

Also I just tried to delete all past fmms and had to delete them one by one. Can a option be made to delete all?

Thanks

PS
Keep up the great work for this N900 community is grateful.

I'm so glad that these "modes" are explained in detail, and that they seem to affect how things are displayed. Oh wait, they aren't and they don't, at least not for me.

There should be one, at least in Polite mode.

To start from a clean slate, do the following:
Uninstall fMMS.
Run the following from xterm: gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/fmms

Reinstall and start fMMS, go to configuration > settings and fill in/check they are correct. If the "Connection mode" switch is in "Polite", you should have the MMS connection visible in your internet connection list.

Hope this helps!
