@markkris: Please see first post, "Reset all settings".

@BigTony: Please see the first post, there are instructions there on how to send me the log :)

@Dexter1759: Which fMMS version are you running?

hey Frals,

fmms 1.0.3 has been working brilliant for me, and so not been following thread as close.

wondered tho, may have been covered, but is there a way to change the alert? as i keep missing mms's if i forget to check the app.

cheers Ross

The alert used is the same as for e-mail message (wrt to sound/vibration) so you would have to change that to change the one fMMS uses :) Regardless you don't need to check fMMS as there should be a notification on screen whenever you received an MMS :)

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

humm just tried to send you the fmms.log file, but there is no log file in /tmp directory (there are lots of other files in there).

Something amiss I think.

it's cleared on device reboot so would have to try sending again to get a new one :)

1.0.8 released aka "omg 2 maemo bugs fixed!":

Quote:

* fixed a bug where a non resolved number lookup would not be cached
* cleaned up imports and removed unnecessary creations of config object
* changed strptime format used on first convert
* scrolling in viewer works when theres multiline text (MB#10174)
* lock file used to make sure only one wappushhandler is run at a time
* treeview is made inactive while loading a message (MB#9046)
@mr_bridger: The MMS notification might have gotten merged with email notification(s), this has been fixed in later versions when I redid the notification :)

I'm encountering a problem with setting up fMMS, after I configure fMMS and I click save the program freeze and does not repond, I can't even shut it down.
I've installed fMMS after the upgrade to PR1.2

Any help?

Nice, localization! Another big milestone for fmms imho. How is this realized?
Do you speak all the languages, frals? ;-) Or is it supported with Mameo tools or the SDK?
The German localization is already very good. The only missing parts I found are:

Advanced Configuration: Header and Save button
Size dialog: Small. Medium, Large
Mode selection: Petite, Rude, Havov, but I don't think that a German translation is meaningful here.
If you need help I can transale the missing German words...

I'm just reusing strings that are already in the device :)

Thanks for catching 'advanced configuration' and the save there, missed them :)

Not sure if it's necessary to translate S/M/L and the connection modes :)

Still need to translate a few of my custom strings, still trying to figure out which way is best to do this. :)

Yes, there is a chance but someone needs to port a video encoder so the video can be recoded to fit in a <300k MMS :)

Thanks everyone for testing and reporting! :)

Thank you, didn't think to do that!

OK, almost working now, I can send a pic msg to myself and receive it. But I try to send one to my OH on a different network and it never turns up at her phone.

She tried sending me one and I did receive it, but the text was buried in what looked like some HTML/XML tags.

i'm still having this problem as well... :(

I've noticed i dont recieve a delivery notification when using FMMS. Is it not set up to work with delivery notifications or just a problem on my device ??

Notifications work fine in SMS conversations. Also going into each individual sms sent from this end there's a delivered status displayed in the header o the message.

Any pointers anyone ??

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

I am using PR1.2, since FMMS v1.0.8(even v1.1.1), I noticed that after i sent a MMS, i can't list all the MMS messages (sent or received) of inbox, the fmms statusbar always in the waiting/entering/starting? status.

I check the fmms.log, here is the log tail:
Code:

2010-05-29 21:21:31,823 fmms.fmms_viewer: filetype: text/plain
2010-05-29 21:21:31,828 fmms.fmms_viewer: filetype: image/jpeg

2010-05-29 21:23:24,518 fmms.contacts: loaded contacthandler in 0.06 s

If I removed fmms cache dir /home/user/.fmms using this command:

rm -fr /home/user/.fmms

surely, all the MMS sent or received was removed, the inbox can show now, but after i sent a MMS again, the inbox can't be list again.

FMMS version 1.0.7 and before did't have the problem.

fMMS version 1.1.1:

Code:

Nokia-N900:/home/user/MyDocs/deb# su - user

BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 3:1.10.2.legal-1osso30+0m5) built-in shell (ash)

    description = description.encode('utf-8', 'ignore')

fMMS v1.0.7:
Code:

Nokia-N900:/home/user/MyDocs/deb# su - user

BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 3:1.10.2.legal-1osso30+0m5) built-in shell (ash)

v1.0.7 seems fine.

Ah, thanks! I accidently changed that, will fix it in the next version. Thanks for reporting! :)

EDIT: Workaround is to edit fmms_gui.py
description = description.encode('utf-8', 'ignore')
to
description = description.decode('utf-8', 'ignore')

(I think) ;)

The workaround works with v1.1.1, and when i successfully open a MMS, i still found following warning log, i have no idea what impact it is.

Code:

~ $ /opt/fmms/fmms_gui.py
/usr/lib/python2.5/sre_parse.py:180: Warning: g_object_get_qdata: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

I've debugged this with another 3 Australia user and my suggestion is you give 3 a call and tell them MMS is not working on your phone and ask them to please enable it for you. Please let me know what they say and if it helps (google for 3 australia mms and there is a lot of similar problems on custom android roms from what I've gathered). :)

If you delete it, fMMS will stop working I'm afraid. If 'Havoc' mode works for you, the APN is hidden from the UI so you won't be bothered by it.

FRALS you are indeed amazing ;)

I am On the Australian Vodafone network, and since I have been testing tis app, I can Recieve from any other network, but can only send to vodafone, I have even confirmed the apn settings with voda techs...

I re flashed with pr1.2 and installed hoping for auto configuration, this yielded a random carrier being set up ( soz i didnt take note )
**EDIT**
Crazy John's
* Connection Type: Packet Data
* Connection Name: Purtona.wap
* Access Point Name: Purtona.net
was the auto populated connection. *** ~~ this apn did not work ~~

I deleted all data via the command lines you posted and entered vodafone AU manually...

I am running FMMS 1.1.0 now and still the same error.

Does entering phone number as Zero work ?
I cannot see a place to enter this in 1.1.0

My sim can send mms to any carrier in my N95 and oldskool 7610 and when these access points are analyzed, the same information is present as per apn configuration.

I dont know if it helps, but when talking to some pretty high up tech support ppl at vodafone AU, we completely removed my phone from the system and re provisioned it. when I sent a test mms to myself, the phone came up as a N95 on their system.
(phone identifies to sim, sim relays info to telco)

I am more than happy to help in any way, in so far as testing and relaying info is concerned ;) ~lol~

Thanx SO much for the work U have done for the community.

Did you do gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/fmms? If you do this and then reinstall the phonenumber is automatically set to 0 since this works almost everywhere.
The reason it's identified as a N95 is because the application pretends to be one to make it work on operators that are stupid, such as t-mob usa ;)

I'm actually not sure why it only works within the vodafone network and I've tbh done all I can from my end to debug it. If you can get the vodafone techs to analyze the outgoing mms and see why it's not forwarded to other networks that would be a great help :)

Hi
Sorry, but it's not.. I don't use themes other than Alfa...
And I don't have this problem in the oldest version (see pic from 1.0.9 version)...

http://i50.tinypic.com/2e1w00m.png

And you can see the buttons in the oldest version is a little big than in the new version (1.1.1 and 1.1.0)

Okies, no problems, tech team only available M-F business hours, so I will hit them up Monday :D
Ya i did do gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/fmms
prior to the auto apn set itself up as the Crazy Johns carrier..
also reset via this method when i manually re entered the vodafone settings.
I will do a full uninstall re-install with this command also prior to tracking with vodafone.

Any hints or specific questions U can give me to help out when talking to these vodafone "techs" lol

( I will retest all size and connect modes to various carriers )

And I don't have this problem in the oldest version (see pic from 1.0.9 version)...

And you can see the buttons in the oldest version is a little big than in the new version (1.1.1 and 1.1.0)

Right the difference is I've increased the label width to 20 instead of 18 because the swedish strings where hidden by the buttons when using width 18. Something in your theme/font takes up extra space as it fits nicely with default theme and default font. I'll see if I can make it dynamic or something, but I wouldn't hold my breath ;)

Well, the optimal would be if they could track your MMS manually somehow - I have no idea what tools are available to the tech support or such tbh. If they ask for a message id or something you can see it after sending a message in the log file; you'll have a line saying MMSC RESPONDED: ('Message-ID': 'xxxxx') and some other values. :)

Interesting. I have no problems here with standard theme and language set to German.
