That was post on Jan 14 2010. Sorry, maybe old news to you, it is new news to me. Somehow I missed that, now I am enjoying portrait mode.

Was known within minutes of PR1.1 coming out :-)

However, the option is less hidden in PR1.2 - but I don't know if the checkbox under Settings > Adjust view is checked out-of-the-box
