you have simply opted out of the notification. They'll give you call on month 3 and make the usual offers.

This is the message i was sent,

You have exceeded your monthly 500MB data allowance. You may find a priceplan with a higher data allowance more suitable. Please call customer services for more information. To stop these messages Text STOP to 40506. You have not been charged. Sent JUN 06 @21:36 UK

So i started a web chat on the eforum and this is what i was told,

You are about to be connected to a online customer service adviser for Vodafone UK.

Chat InformationYou are now connected with Sunil.

Sunil: Hello, you're chatting with Sunil, one of Vodafone's online customer service specialists. May I take your name please?

You: hi

You: can you confirm the data alowance on my contract please

Sunil: Hi, how are you doing?

Sunil: Sure...:)

Sunil: Can I take your mobile number please?

You: 07########3

You: and can you confirm if its a hard limit or fup please

Sunil: Sure..

Sunil: Let me pull up your account on my system...

Sunil: Can I take your full name please?

You: ####### ****

Sunil: Thanks..

Sunil: For security reasons, may I confirm the 1st and 2nd digit of your PIN

You: #*

Sunil: Thanks..

Sunil: Your data allowance per month is 1 GB...

You: and is that with a fup

Sunil: No, you will receive 1GB of data allowance per month to be used...

You: when i called yesterday to upgrade the limit i was told by 191 it was an increase to my fup i have not at any point agreed to a hard limit, nor would i!

You: my contract states there is a fup and i have not agreed to any new t&c's

You: you still there?

Sunil: Yes I am ...

Sunil: With your price plan, you will receive 1 GB of data allowance...

Sunil: Let me tell you that it is subjected to a fair usage policy of 1 GB..

You: thankyou, im gonna keep a copy of this chat for my records

matt i dont want to sound too negative but i'd bet they'll charge you the minute you exceed 1gb. if you think a chat transcript will make any difference you're too confident in vf's interest for their clients... i've seen and read too much...

try to call them again and see if they give you the same answer...

UK internets often quite crafty like this, its not a con either, most providers do have a fair usage policy.

Re: Attention all N900 Vodafone users in the UK!

Ive checked and they have put me on the iphone plan, if they charge me then great ill cancel and it will come down to weather they can prove in court that i have agreed to any new T&C's when i can prove i haven't as i have recorded my conversations with them, as we all know they can take no action to recover disputed moneys, but at the end of the day untill one of us is put in the position where we can cancel we just dont know if vodafone will even take it that far.
But as i said before im quite happy with my contract otherwise and with 15gb of wifi at home the chances of me going over 1gb are quite slim,
if im charged for going over i will try and cancel, but considering my average usage is around 700mb i cant see it happening.
As long as i dont get charged for something that was sold to me as unlimited i will be happy.

As far as i can see i have only accepted one set of T&C's when i took out the contract, i have not either verbaly or in writing agreed to any change in them (which i can prove if need be) and changing them without my concent would imediatly give me a way out of the contract, so i guess ill just have to wait and see what they do if i exceed 1gb.

Re: Attention all N900 Vodafone users in the UK!

I just got the text message. I have gone over because I downloaded a bunch of stuff including PR1.2!

I will be cancelling because I do not accept these charges. In my contract they never said anything about Out of Bundle charges, and yet they have introduced them.

I refuse to accept these terms. I will be looking to cancel.

I'll wait. By the time they get round to calling me and I argue about it my contract will be up for renewal anyway so I'll just jump at that point or negotiate a high limit for free via the cancellations dept like normal.
