Nokia Internet Call problem
 

Hi guys,

Apologies if this has been covered but I could not find anything under the search function, unless i was searching for the wrong thing.

I have been trying complete the Nokia Internet Call setup but I am experiencing a problem.

I am entering a display name, I click OK and then a pop up box appears asking me to "activate Nokia Internet Call Invitation? Connection required." When I click OK, another box pops up saying "Activating Nokia Internet call" then that disappears.
Another box then pops up at the top right saying "Feature Activation Failed, Try Again"

I have tried so many times, it is getting crazy. I dont know what I am doign wrong. I am connected to the internet. Dont know what else it could be.

Any help I would appreciate it.

With Google Talk? I think this same happend for me too.

Now when I try it, it looks like it would work.. But I have no one to test it with, course everyone I know use Skype.

Test call would be intresting.

Basically,

I am not using googletalk or jabber.
I just go to IM, click on send call invitation and then the wizard appears. when I follow the instructions thats when I get the error mentioned in the first post.

Its a weird one this one

Never seen this problem before.

I only have a 77o so can only speak from that experience.

Make sure you already have a gmail account established. Installed googletalk on your home PC, so you can test the call feature, and then ask close friends and relatives to do the same.

I have the exact problem. I'm getting all crazy about it. I have tried all sorts of things, but nothing works. I already have a gtalk account and I have a gtalk account for testing, but it wont work.

I have also called the nokia support but they dont know why it wont work. I have also emailed the nokia support but they havnt answered.

I have found several of people who have the same problem.

I also tried to flash the n800 and then try the internet call activation from a "clean" set up but that didnt work either.

It just wont work.

The same problem overhere. Exact same problem. And i hate when something doesn't work... What i found out though... was this:

If you u r connected to a wifi point and u r busy with activating. Try this: while u r sending or before ( i forgot :P) sending the activation link, disconnect from ur wifi and then reconnect. What will u c? Activation was successful! Not that it works after that, but perhaps someone else can find a solution with this fact.

I'm very curious if someone figured it out.

I also tried to activate from different wap's.

Well, it's not that i'm talking Chinese, but ok for you guys out there i'll "translate" my message which was written deep in the night :D

What i was trying to explain is when you are about the activate the internet call, before typing your screenname, go to a place where you have no reach from your wifi point or just shut wifi off. I wasn't able to disconnect from wifi through N800, 'cause the 'screenname' window is on top of the globe icon.

When it's disconnected type any screenname. Your N800 will try to find a connection, so in that case turn on your router again or go back to a spot where u have reach. Now you will see that it says: activation successful.

But that's just the message. It doesn't bring me to a successful activation though, because i wasn't able to send an invitation to anyone, so basically the whole story starts over again.

What i was saying about different wap's is that even connecting to other (neighbours') routers doesn't solve the problem. What i was thinking: perhaps this problem occurs only with European users? But Karel is from Belgium and I'm from Holland and i think he has no problems? Of wel? :)

For getting offline when in the process of activating you could do it easily by tapping the ON/OFF switch and select OFFLINE MODE.

I have the same problem (I'm in France).
WPA/No security/other wifi point doesn't change anything.
I could access to the same status of activating but one time per 20-30 tests (not connected ; I clic on the invite feature, it ask to connect wifi and...sometimes it works). When it works I have the window with the screen name AND a button named "desactivate invitation" and OK ; but by tapping ok it just close and doesn't allow me to send email invitations ; I clic again on the invite on the menu and it ask again to activate...It wasn't activated ! :(

Exactly, that happened to me too.

If there are other people overhere living in Europe who experienced a successful invitation procedure, then i know it's not a EU problem.

You are right btw, i could simply click that on/off button :D i forgot.
