Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 10

javascript and java are two completely different things.
i assume you want a java browser plugin and that is just not possible yet.

Latest version?

I'm a bit confused about which is the latest version and where to find it.

about page displays:

About Opera
Version
10.1

Build
4

Platform
Linux

installed from deb.opera.com/maemo

This version has problems with many websites. screen often turns white or black, especially when I interrupt loading of a page.

The version I had previously installed was much better.

Does anybody know where I can find a more stable version?

Cheers

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 10

Opera Mobile is quite nice, but has a BIG flaw: The keyboard on N810 cannot be used for browsing, page up/down etc.

Dear developers, this is certainly an easy patch, please make keyboard browsing possible. Best would be using same/similar keys as in Microb: <space> for down one page, shift-space for page-up, backspace/escape for "back to previous site", and up/down (D-Pad) for single line scrolling, etc.....

Thanks a lot, guys!

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 10

Every time I run Opera, after about 30 seconds it regenerates all the Speed Dial images, locking up the tablet (N810) for about 20 seconds. Does anyone else encounter this?

Can't say i have experienced it here.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 10

Why is there still no < and > characters? I also can't bring up the "sym" keyboard from within Opera. Unuseable for me. Sorry to say.

You can't. At this point it does not support plugins.

First post in this thread seems to get updated as the program gets updated, and the last mentioned version there is that of the package you mention.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 10

Does anyone know how to change the appearance of the tiles (icons) on the Start Page's "bookmarks"? I'd like to have something like it provides for BBC News and My Opera. The captured-pages-as-icon-tiles are too small for me to see what they are.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 10

Anybody else having problems lately with Opera Link?

Using the latest build 10.1 Build 6. Opera Link was switched off, but the main bookmarks all of a sudden showed a lot of empty read-only entries.

Turned on Opera Link, after a while Opera Mobile hung (100% CPU) and had to be killed.

Then I deleted $HOME/.opera and Opera started all fresh and looked good.

When I turned on Opera Link it seemed to sync ok, took about 40 seconds. But no bookmarks were visible, except for the Speed Dial items. A while after the sync Opera mobile would hang again and had to be killed.

Once I disable Opera Link it seems to run fine, but now all my bookmarks are lost.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks!

Symbian has gotten the final Opera 10.1 release. Is there any timeframe for a final release on Maemo? Maybe with plugins?
Any plans for Opera 11 at some point or is MeeGo going to get all the goodies from now on?

mine is fine here.

try to un-install and re-install to see if cures it!

I would love to see support for plug-ins like flash, and i do mis the old rss that was available in the 4.x series years ago, then i would not need to go back to the other browsers

As Ohm seems to not have posted on this thread for months, i suspect the project (it was a weekend hack by the swedish branch of Opera, iirc) is either dead or on ice.

So what exactly is your problem you are facing? Do you have a feature request? Did you notice a bug or something? or did you just suddenly realize complaining over nothing is much more easier that showing some gratitude?

I think you have an agressivity problem or you have severely misunderstood tso's post. I don't see him complaining over anything, but explaining some facts to a newcomer. Now, please, cool down, and let's go back to our topic.

I also would like to see another bugfix release (at least fix the download manager and a few other minor issues), but I don't hold any hope, for the reasons tso stated.

And you seem to have a reading comprehension or a literacy problem....

The poster was making an observation as to the status of this project - based on the lack of activity, his observation is in all probability correct - the original poster was doing this for free and so is under no obligation to continue - hence the high likelihood of this being abandoned.

I think you need to brush up on your reading skills and your ABCs

OM doesn't have that option, it's only available in desktop opera...

Do you use Opera Link to sync your bookmarks?

Here it does not work any longer.

I had to re-install and leave Opera Link deactivated, otherwise Opera Mobile would freeze.

I'm having trouble with the speed dial buttons. I can't edit/clear a button's web address once something is put in; I get the "edit/clear" option after long press but once I try to move to the stylys to edit, the option disappears. Any thoughts? And where would one find bookmarks in the file system?

Otherwise a great browser!

When the menu pops up you have to release the screen and the menu stays. Now you can press the menu entries.

Afaik there is no international Versionof Opera Mobile for maemo. You may be able to run an international version of the java Opera Mini 5 inside Microemulator3. The german Version works in it.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 10

I suspect this was a test bed for any future opera on maemo/meego phones. Now that Nokia have put the whole meego thing on back burner while concentrating on winphone7 i suspect we will not see much activity (it was a spare time project anyways).
