On a seperate note, this latest update is pushing me closer to making Opera my browser of choice on the N900. The interface is simple yet highly functional, scrolling through long web pages is handled exquisitely, and many sites seem to load up much quicker. All this with not much of a hit on startup time (which is a massive turnoff with Mobile Firefox 4). |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
how can I to add a new language support?
I can get language file from opera mobile for Android and modified to adapt for maemo. but i don't know which option or setting file to make it effect~~ |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
I just sent bug report to http://www.facebook.com/help/contact...n_password_bug (could not find any better place) regarding redirection issue on Opera.
Looks like facebook has done something "intelligent" recently: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?ui...58&post=143627 http://bit.ly/lzFKMO |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
Okey this is just pure evilness. I canīt even login to desktop version of facebook.com with Opera. What kind of idiotic stuff this is on behalf of facebook? Moreover why I canīt choose right page (link in bottom) after they have miss directed me to mobile page.
I thought that Apps are dying and html5 pages (like touch.facebook.com) are future. |

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
hi,
if I press and hold an entry from the bookmarks window I can choose to open it an a new tab but please could the bookmarks window stay open so I can open more then one link from within the bookmarks window? Would make my life easier;) And is there another way (with less clicks) to close the current tab then click on bottom right arrow, then click on the tabs-icon, then double click the close icon of the tab? How about clicking bottom right arrow then the close icon in the upper right corner? This close icon could close the current tab until there is only one and only then closes the app! |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
If you are trapped in textbox close the keyboard, so the softboard will come up and you can press "Done". That will bring the zoom out button to the top.
Swype from the left also works, just make sure you swype over the left bottom button. |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
seems that at times going to a page ia a url shortener results in a blank page.
|
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
I wonder why https://www.redbox.com/M/ doesn't load. On windows just Chrome can open that page.
|
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
will Maemo 4 devices be supported? I'm mostly annoyed that the FB mobile page does not work in the latest iteration of Opera.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
Opera mobile 11.1 is out for Symbian / Android etc.
biggest change: google search auto complete (like MicroB) http://blog.gsmarena.com/opera-mini-...now-available/ I hope it comes our way as well |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
Depends on how much free time Ohrn gets, as he is doing it as a labs project.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
then lets hope Ohrn gets some free time soon.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
Gah, Opera seems to drop cookies at near random intervals. I can be logged into a site for days, then suddenly i have to log in twice in the same day (and yes, i did check the "remember me" option each time. And no, i did not play with Opera turbo between those two).

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

I'm sick and tierd of beeing redirected to mobile sites with version 11 |

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
you're absolutly right.
It's the best browser for the n900 except the thing it links me to all those mobile sites. could it be possible to patch the available version to use another user agent? Maybe hexedit some file... |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

I blame the website designers for this mess. I can understand that they want the best user experience and to save the user money but I think they should always include an option at the bottom of their site to change it and save that option, that's what cookies are for. |

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
This is so great! It is the true mobile browser that I've ever used.
Here is a simple question: Can't figure out how to set content blocking. Checked "settings", read 3/4 of the entire thread, can't find it. If it is not supported yet from interface, is "urlfilter.ini" file honored? I mean if put ulr in that file, will the opera pick it up? Thanks |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
Wow, absolutely love opera mobile 11, this has revived my n800
I noticed a few bugs 1) In portrait (270 degrees clockwise) mode the d-pad acts oddly. It acts as if it was flipped landscape (rotated 180 degrees) 2) For a lot of websites with permenent visible top menu bars (ie www.bungie.net/mobile), the menu bar will shift down to ~1cm from the top, it will fix itself at the slightest scroll pwards |

Anyway, for the facebook mobile redirection, and other mobile redirections ... well I have one solution. There is the capability to change the user agent in the opera:config page, however the "Mobi" and "Maemo" strings remain, which is all facebook seems to need to send you to m.facebook.com/ But NightShift is right, a bit of hex editing can work around this. Go to /opt/opera/bin and make a copy of the opera binary in case you mess it up. Then use a program like hexedit (available on N900) to edit the binary. Search for Mobi and Maemo and replace them with something or blank them out. I replaced "Mobi" with "Arse" and "Maemo" with all spaces. Then try it out. If the hex editor seems like a hassle then drop to an xterm on the phone and run the following commands - Code:
sudo gainrootTo get rdiff you'll need extras-devel enabled. |

But still the user agent with ID 3 contains: Code:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Linux armv7l; ; Opera Arse/9; de) Opera 11.00Maybe its because of 'armv71'? |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
if anyone want change opera user-agent:
1)go to opera:config 2)search word "user" 3)scroll to "spoof user agent id" and set: - 1 = Opera - 2 = Mozilla - 3 = Internet Explorer Site-specific values: - 4 = Mozilla, Opera not mentioned - 5 = Internet Explorer, Opera not mentioned 4)restart opera i used "2" and work fine now but the 1st time I try didn't work. if don't work the 1st time you can try: -go to opera:config again -set "user js storage quota" on 1 -close opera -go to config again -set again "spoof user agent" -close and restart opera it's work fine for me someone asked for url filter: i see it in config under network (if you set search-word "user" you should find it. |

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
changing agent to IE didn't work - facebook for example still redirects you to m.facebook

You are quite correct, I got the path wrong in my post there. I'll try to edit it in a moment. I also get redirected on spiegel.de, you might be right about the arm stuff. So long as you have a copy of the original opera binary in case you stuff anything up, may be worth hacking around with a hex editor and replacing some more strings? |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

I can see that this does change the user agent, but it still didn't stop facebook and some other sites redirecting me to the mobile pages, which is why I got out the hex editor. Specifically, whichever one of those settings I tried, the Strings "Maemo" and "Mobi" were still present, which seemed to be enough. http://whatsmyuseragent.com/ is a useful site for playing with this stuff. |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11
On the UA string:
Think the compatible and IE8.0 bits aren't necessary - try the Firefox mobile UA string without the "Fennec" bit but with "Opera" instead. Any good? I find the edited Fennec string works for most things in microB. General feedback: Getting to really like it as a general browser. Seriously quick. A few liveable-with bugs like funny behaviour when using textareas (e.g. now!) but nothing drastic. Main to need to use another browser is absence of video - doesn't have to be flash but more html5 would be nice. Unfortunately when I tried youtube's html5 test, all parts failed - did I have the settings incorrect? There's no tablet linux armv7l version that could be run in EasyDebian, is there? I could only see desktop versions. Good job getting Opera on Maemo. Long may it continue! Thank you. |
Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11.5
Hi Everyone,
Long time no see. I'm happy to tell you that Opera Mobile 11.5 for Maemo is now on it's way into the extras repository. See the Opera Mobile blog for a list of new things in the 11.1 and 11.5 versions (not everything applies to Maemo though). Specific to this version is a few new keyboard shortcuts: CTRL-E Activate search box CTRL-I Zoom in CTRL-O Zoom out CTRL-B Go back in history CTRL-F Go forward in history CTRL-S Stop loading page CTRL-R Reload page Enjoy! /ohrn P.S. For all you user agent changers, there is a new easy to use option in the advanced settings to mask as desktop Opera. |
