Can I just say, many thanks for still taking the time to make a Diablo version! :-)

Specific to this version is a few new keyboard shortcuts:

CTRL-E Activate search box
On Diablo at least that's a global shortcut that brings up the platform search dialog :-/

Quote:

CTRL-I Zoom in
CTRL-O Zoom out
These two don't seem to work. But perhaps the zooming actions could be bound to the hardware zoom buttons (F7/F8 IIRC)?

On the subject of shortcuts, ones I would really love to see would be space/shift+space for page down/up and Ctrl+L for URL editing.

See the Opera Mobile blog for a list of new things in the 11.1 and 11.5 versions (not everything applies to Maemo though).

Specific to this version is a few new keyboard shortcuts:

CTRL-E Activate search box
CTRL-I Zoom in
CTRL-O Zoom out
CTRL-B Go back in history
CTRL-F Go forward in history
CTRL-S Stop loading page
CTRL-R Reload page

Enjoy!

/ohrn

P.S.
For all you user agent changers, there is a new easy to use option in the advanced settings to mask as desktop Opera.

Thanks, finaly I can read Giz from Opera. The shortcuts does not work thou (only back, reload page does). Also is there a config to remap shortcuts (like instead of # and * key use Ctrl and Shift)? Will html5 videos work in future versions (opening in mplayer or something...)?

Awesome, "mask as desktop" works very well on google, facebook, finn and others :D
I love Opera! :)

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

first, thanks for the new version!

here are some first impressions:

ctrl-I/O doesn't work, but the other "new" (only) shortcuts are working! Thx!
Can we have more?;)
like:
- shift-backspace or just q for "close current tab"
- shift-left/right for switching tabs
- space/shift-space for scroll down/up one page

And when I'm long pressing an entry in the bookmarks list could the "open in new tab" function opens the link in background and stay in the bookmarks window? PLEASE!

thats

Always good to see friendly faces, especially when baring new a release! I know the Maemo version is really not a priority but we are very grateful for continued updates. Thank you to you and the Opera team. There are a few questions I have. Hopefully, they're quite easy to answer.

If there's anything that doesn't work as expected/advertised, where should we raise it?

The usual warnings regarding extra-testing are still valid.

Edit: oops, didn't see ohrn's posting.

Great update thanks.

On my N900 this version crashes when opening http://www.qtcentre.org/forum.php (I tried several times and also rebooted the phone) can someone else try?

vetsin 2011-10-12 17:57

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

hi sakya! just tried it and it opened fine. i have a different issue... in text fields such as this one at the bottom of the thread and the address bar CTRL+C and CTRL+Z no longer works. it just replaces everything in the field with the letter you press with the CTRL key... can you guys confirm this? i already restarted my device before posting this.

EDIT: not everything in the field is replace, just your selection. sorry bout that. anybody willing to try?
or if it was just my imagination telling me that those two shortcuts used to work please tell me. but i'm pretty sure that they did work before this update.

thank you for not forgetting the maemo users. We may not be so many; but we definately are the more grateful.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

funny thing... Opera 11.5 came for Maemo earlier than Symbian ^3! or IOS

thanks for that!

tso 2011-10-12 19:38

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

After some quick testing i see that Opera still do not respect external rotation changes on Diablo. If you set screen rotation different to what Opera is set to, and open a new tab, Opera will force the screen rotation back to the orientation that it has in its settings.

Oh, and why is text wrapping off when using the Maemo on-screen keyboard. But on when using the Opera keyboard? And when trying to bring up the full screen OSK on single line input areas, Opera registers the "enter".

I noticed a new way of copy/paste. Now with movable arrows to show beginning and end of text to copy. Nice!

I think i will stick with long pressing dpad center on my N800, as dragging those markers around a flaky (a momentary drop in pressure results in a "long-tap" that brings up the menu and send the selection into oblivion).

Can anybody here please try selecting texts in a text field and pressing CTRL+C to copy? Can you also check if undoing an action is possible with CTRL+Z?
Thanks to the kind soul who would be willing to try it out and give feedback. :)

This is a test is a test

just tested for you - ctrl-c works fine (2nd "is a test" above was highlighted via cursor keys, copied with ctrl-c and then pasted to end with cttl-v). i then hit ctrl-z to undo the paste but that had no effect.

vetsin 2011-10-12 23:13

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

Thanks Pigro!
I lost CTRL+C functionality in my Opera... what could have caused this? hmmm... I'll try uninstalling and installing it. Thanks for the feedback! :)

No crashes here either.

But I went here mainly to say how amazed I am by this browser. Just discovered it, and I think I am in love :)
(even if it seems impossible to zoom when editing)

You can tap and hold and select "Copy".

Also for edit fields there is "Fullscreen edit" item, but it doesn't work for me.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

Wow, this was a pleasant suprise! I thought Opera would have abandoned us maemo users by now! Opera has been and at this prospect will be my no. 1 web browser! MicroB, not to meantion Fennec, are WAAYYY too slow... I've done my surfing with Opera by the time Fennec just starts! =)

stickymick 2011-10-13 08:08

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

AFAIK Opera isn't an official project of the Oprra development team. It's a project being worked on by a few Opera devs in their spare time.
It's a damn good effort though, because they've even gone to the trouble of writing their own Java engine for Maemo.

I'm pretty impressed with how far it's come and particularly like the ability to change the user agent.
But not sure about anyone else, I still find the zoom feature is a bit off target in the sense that the focus will zoom off to some random point on a page rather than keeping focus on what you're zooming in to.

vetsin 2011-10-13 08:25

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

ok. i rolled back to the opera version in extras... i can't do CTRL+C in the latest version. and i realized that i never had CTRL+Z in the first place (just tested it. hehe)

thanks again Pigro for trying it out for me.

i still appreciate the updates, though this one's not for me.

@ForeverYoung
yup, i know about the long press and the option popping out. i just want the CTRL+C keyboard shortcut. :)

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

Thanks a lot for the new version, downloading it right now. Just wonder though, why Opera prefers kind of non standard shortcuts (Like Ctrl + F for forward instead of default find). In my opinion Cntrl + right arrow and Cntrl + left arrow should be nice for navigation purpose and definitely volume key for zooming would be great to have.

Could be the common misunderstanding of Java and Javascript being the same.

i used to love this browser but had to abandon it as i could not get desktop version of sites. My prob w MicroB is dat it ends up using a lot of memory n cpu. This update has solved these probs n opera is back to being my default browser. its things like this that make me love this phone!

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

Thanks a lot for your efforts. I really love Opera. MicroB just uses to much memory and I end up having to reboot often. With Opera I don't have this problem anymore. And now I don't have to fight anymore for the desktop version of websites.

One thing though, I know this is not an official release and this is your team's effort (which we ALL really appreciate), but is there any way to make the flash plugin work please? YouTube only would be more than enough (for me).

Thanks

Magnification and wrapping works so nicely on Opera that I often convert word documents to html so that I can easily read them using Opera.

Many thanks!
