I can't see in repos.. :)

http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/l...e-10-on-maemo/

somewhere in this article there is download link.
just be sure to open the page with N900's default browser

** you can't see it in repos cause you probably don't have the Opera repo enabled.
this installation will first create the opera repository and then it will proceed with the actual Opera Mobile 12 installation.

If you can manage to get it working it would be greatly appreciated. If not, many thanks for supporting Diablo all those years in any case :-)

The version on Opera's repository is ancient, they have been doing the right thing and uploading to maemo extras (see http://maemo.org/packages/view/opera-mobile/) for a while now.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

even if it's Opera 10, you'll get the update to 12 anyway.

but if it's on devel now! do it from devel repos. easiest way as the guys mentioned

No Flash in Opera for the N900, this has been mentioned many times in the thread that it will not be a part of Ohrn's generous spare time project for us.

Let's just continue to thank Ohrn for the great work and contribution to the community. It's been a pleasure having Opera on my N900, Thank you once again!

Presumably bookmarklets can't start external programs, but at the least, a Linux script which takes a Copied link, adds the "http://" and passes it to CuteTube should be possible? This would be 5 touches/keypresses as opposed to 5 <wait 4s> 4 more.

Removing Opera vkp looks deliberate. Why do you need it?

The main reason for using the Virtual keyboard is for the posibility of type with the phone in portrait mode and one hand. In fact, is my personal reason for using Opera mobile.

Copy not working for me too

Hm, vkb is working fine here. May that be theme inflicted? Did anyone try another hildon theme?

Great work, @ohrn, thanks a lot!

I've just uploaded 12.1 for the N900 to the development repository. This will be the final major update for Maemo, however since since the build has received very little testing I might do a bug fix update if any brown-paper-bag bugs show up.

No build for the N800/N810 at this time, it doesn't work right on device for unknown reasons, maybe I'll get around to figuring out why, but don't count on it.

I'd like to give a big thank you to all Opera fans, the weekly usage statistics have stayed surprisingly steady over the last year, that's what motivated me to create this final release.

/ohrn

Any chance to build that using thumb2? It is just a matter of setting up a new target in ScratchBox by following http://wiki.maemo.org/CSSU-thumb_too....7.2-linaro%29. Once you give me the .deb of thumb-compiled Opera, I will upload it to CSSU-thumb repo.

What are you doing with your other hand? Eating pizza?

I'm having a problem where pressing CR in forum text boxes will post the comment instead of creating a new line. Bit like Facebook all over again. Happens on phpBB at least.

+1 for Opera Thumb.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

There is font rendering problem with v12 - cut off characters, incorrectly resized, misplaced etc. Small (pixel size) errors here and there. Maybe something with antialiasing?

Acurus_ 2012-10-11 18:33

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

Firstly I would like to thank everybody, who is still working on a newer Opera Version for our "old" N900. But the latest Beta-Version has a lot of bugs:

- it is slower (reaction time after clicking a link)
- cannot use the virtual tastatur
- cannot paste, what has been copied
- cannot write right in an answering field (like here at maemo.org)

Do we get a version with less bugs in the near future?

Secondly: Thanks again.

HELLASISGREECE 2012-10-11 18:51

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

i can confrim , it is somewhat slower than v11.

absolutely yes... Opera is the worst of his history.. No copy-paste.. And the slowest opera is now with us... :(

Cannot confirm. Rendering is at least 30% faster, zero delay in loading websites, couldn't say for sure if any sites took longer to load. Tabs use a lot less memory so Opera 12 is about 10x faster on 8+ tabs.

Running CSSU Thumb with SR @ 850

Haven't seen any problems with fonts.

Only problems I've noticed are Select-Copy is broken and Carriage Return is broken in some textboxes.

HELLASISGREECE 2012-10-11 21:41

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

In my N900, Opera 12 behaves almost like a snail sometimes.
Slugish and slow. "Framerate" is lower than 11.50 version.
: \

using cssu thumb @ 600mhz

Sphinx780 2012-10-11 22:15

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

I can't confirm sluggishness. Snappy and responsive compared to v11 for me running cssu thumb @ 850. Can confirm select-copy issue.

Megaltariak 2012-10-11 22:55

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

I wasn't expecting an update, this is a really good news :)

I can confirm the issue about copying text and the opera vkb
No problem with the performances however, the scrolling on some sites which used to be very sluggish is now responsive and almost totally smooth, rendering is faster too

Did anybody FORCE you to install an unsupported, beta, version?

JFC. You guys keep asking for new versions of every-fu-cken-thing just for the sake of it ("we want updates!", "release early! release often!") and then complain when you get the latest "dump" of whatever program.

Just find a program/version that you can live with. And live with it.

Duke 2012-10-12 08:15

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

For me its also like a downgrade.
- Feels slower
- Its harder to klick on links. Old version seemed more finger frienly
- vkb not working
- select copy not working.

Sorry about that. I have a bad week :)

It makes a lot of difference how one writes things (I have to learn that too :).

That didn't sound (to me) like any sort of constructive feedback. Hence my rant.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

:) yes i want to a better opera, i don't wanna "opera 12". no need update i think if opera 11 had a flash support...

Megaltariak 2012-10-12 11:27

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

I just ran twice into a serious issue:
I was browsing with several tabs (4, then 10) and I noticed the current tab was marked as loading in the tab selector even if it was fully loaded.
I switched to another tab then returned to the buggy one and it was displaying the other tab's content instead. I tried to close the buggy tab: it didn't work. Then I double-clicked it to switch to it fullscreen. It would still display the content of the other tab and worse: The button on the bottom-right corner didn't appear so my only choice was to close the browser.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

On my N900 is faster, but I noticed the lack of vkb and the select --> copy non working.
A new version is great news I was like "woah! New Opera?" when I saw it was Opera after the yellow notification in the upper notification area.
