Re: NOW I've Killed It... [N900]
Yes, it was leaked by a person who works for Nokia.
But that doesn't mean, that it was leaked intentionally by Nokia. And to stop all the rumors that PR1.2 is the last update: no it is not, there will be AT LEAST one update after PR1.2 edit: now we can assume, that something is wrong with your eMMC. did you try to reflash it without the -R flag? also you can try to put the N900 is R&D mode, then it should be possible to reflash the eMMC again. |

first of all, the "testers" are always same people who use overclocked kernels or other heavy modifications. (plus couple guys who don't know what they are doing and those can't help at all unless screaming in panic is helping...) |

Flashing_the_eMMC_in_the_N900 That should do the trick and you should be able to flash eMMC again. |

Re: NOW I've Killed It... [N900]
How does one obtain a Linux live cd? Sorry off topic. I have had the leaked firmware installed since it was leaked and my N900 is currently overclocked to 850mhz. Everything is great.

Re: NOW I've Killed It... [N900]
Having just helped out some with the same probem
flasher-3.5 -F os.bin -f wait for it to finish flasher-3.5 -F vemmc.bin -f -R Don't unplug the phone between flashing the OS and emmc images.. (edit: Note that the first command doesn't have -R on the end.. important!) |

He does understand, what we're saying, but he does have a (for me well known) problem with the flasher 3.5 for windows. |
Re: NOW I've Killed It... [N900]
he managed to type in the "flasher-3.5 -F vemmc.bin -f -R" line so I figured he was almost there! The fault wasn't flasher talking to the device, it's not a windows problem as far as I can tell
Here is a thread that really does walk through step by step.. From this morning, I might add! http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/...unread-message Seriously.. follow that thread very very closely and I imagine you should be fine! |
Re: NOW I've Killed It... [N900]
Look at that... so obvious... vemmc.bin... but he said he had read the wiki. So he probably done it both ways. Or not?
|
Re: NOW I've Killed It... [N900]
done what both ways? The command he entered was syntatically correct.. The file vmmc.bin existed AND was recognised by flasher as an emmc image..
That was not the problem.. the problem was the phone failed to completely switch into emmc flashing mode.. He was using the right command.. I don't get you point.. When I help users out I often get them to rename the bin files to something more obivous.. in my examples os.bin and emmc.bin.. This saves them typing long commands lines and saves me explaining the benefits of "tab completion" on windows.. Seriously, I think the problem he is facing is that he hasn't flashed the OS then immediately flashed the emmc.. I recon that'll get him going.. If he still has problems with GSM stuff afterwards, that can be fixed (or worked around) later.. but first thing, get the thing booting correctly.. |

Re: WARNING: PR 1.2 RC and Overclocking [N900]
If you've tried flashing the OS (without -R) then flashing the emmc straight after.. all without unpluging or rebooting the phone and it still isn't working, I'd be tempted to try either
booting Linux (I've got a relatively simple USB stick solution if you have a 2gig stick laying about) or using vmware (again, I have a nice little vm that works in vmware player.. you just copy in the 2 bin files and its menu driven (but not pretty) The errors you're seeing with windows asking you to install support shouldn't matter.. flasher isn;t using a driver in that way.. cancelling any driver requests should be fine..I thought.. a vm or a linux boot might be slightly safer since it rules out any windows problems |

Re: WARNING: PR 1.2 RC and Overclocking [N900]
The main risk of damage with the O/Cing is that the device gets locked into 100% CPU sometime in the night and then stays that way for an extended period going unnoticed and fries.
Getting locked at 100% usage is a bit of a risk, especially with Devel and Testing apps installed. |
Re: WARNING: PR 1.2 RC and Overclocking [N900]
@f2thak: In all seriousness I hope you get your n900 working soon.
(Let us know how you get on) It sounds like your n900 is not dead, just resting... http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iCDag7rZLq...400/parrot.jpg |

From a flasher perspetive, unpluging the deivce AFTER it has been moved (or asked to move) into emmc mode is likely to jump it back out of that mode anyway.. You shouldn't unplug the device between these two steps.. Go back and have a look First it says: USB device found at bus bus-0, device address is \\.\libusb..... NOLO version 1.4.14 Version of 'sw-release': RX-51_2009..... Booting device into flash mode. Then it says Suitable USB device not found, waiting. So, it never made it into flash mode.. but flasher DID see it.. Unpluging imho would be inadvisable at this point.. I saw someone earlier today with this same problem.. to solve it, we flashed the os image FIRST, then without rebooting or unplugging, we flashed the emmc.. I'm not sure windows is the problem.. it can initially see the phone, but it can't see it after asking it to go into flashing mode.. and an unhappy phone, it seems, doesn't always make it into flashing mode.. flashing the os has, in my experience, solved that problem and the subsequently allowed the emmc to be flashed. |
Re: WARNING: PR 1.2 RC and Overclocking [N900]
Have you tried un-installing and then re-installing the windows drivers? I had some issues with Windows not wanting to talk (for eMMC) to my N900 after flashing the firmware. I believe I had to un-install the Nokia drivers, reboot, plug-in the N900, let if find and re-install the drivers, then flash the firware, no -R, then flash the eMMC all in one go.
