Well, crap. So much for their promised continued support of the 770 platform.

I'm tempted to really harass them about it, but I have the feeling that the results wouldn't be worth my time.

That's crap - the RSS News Reader should be compatible with both OS 2006 and OS 2007.

One for Ari to deal with if you ask me... he's commited to continued 770 support, yet here's a prime example where that isn't happening. :(

Is he the one that said, shortly after the N800 release, that Nokia would continue support for the 770?

If so, maybe I oughta call him on it.....

The very same. Perhaps you should. I'm getting the impression the new N800 firmware will become available really, really soon now - it will be interesting to see if Ari releases updated OS 2006 plans shortly afterwards, as Nokia really need to target many of the outstanding OS 2006 bugs.

There's no excuse why much of the improved functionality from OS 2007 should not be backported to OS 2006 - the RSS reader being a prime example. This app is not dependent on N800 hardware or OS 2007 services, so not making the effort is just crap and disrespectful to loyal consumers.

The Joystiq feed is indeed working fine with 3.2007.10-7.

It's bad form replying to myself, but I may have spoken too soon.

The Joystiq and Nintendo Wii Fanboy* feeds were finally accepted by the RSS Feed Reader in 3.2007.10-7, and they seemed to update fine for a day or so. Then, all at once, all of my RSS feeds stopped pulling in new data.

Deleting Joystiq and Nintendo Wii Fanboy has helped some of my other feeds, but I haven't received a single Engadget update since. The Ars Technica and UneasySilence feeds seem to be pulling in only some, random updates, and other feeds may be acting up as well. I haven't had time to really cross-check updates with a non-N800 feed reader, so I'm not sure what's going on yet.

*The Nintendo Wii Fanboy feed used to give me exactly the same trouble the Joystiq feed did.

And I continue talking to myself...

I just opened the RSS Feed Reader, and UNEASYsilence and two other feeds have somehow forgotten their addresses (URLs). I don't know if it's coincidence, but all three of these feeds are in the same folder, and they're the only feeds in that folder. It's not the same folder that held Joystiq and Nintendo Wii Fanboy.

I'm not sure how long ago these feeds lost their URLs. I know they all worked right after I updated the firmware, and I think they worked, at least briefly, after I deleted Joystiq and Nintendo Wii Fanboy.

Anyone that's more familiar with RSS syntax know exactly WHAT is causing the Joystiq feed to crash the reader? Could it be some sort of malformed tag somewhere in the feed?

I'm starting to play with Yahoo Pipes, and thinking that once I figure out WHAT the problem is, I can filter it out using Yahoo Pipes and then we'll have a Joystiq feed that we all can subscribe to in order to have it work on our tablets.

My time resources are extremely low, so I'd need some help to make this happen. I was just comparing side-by-side the Engadget feed source and the Joystiq feed source, and nothing jumped out at me as differences in the header, but I don't have time to go through the content with a fine-toothed comb right now.

I already tried to pipe the feed through yahoo pipes, unfiltered, to see if maybe it would fix the problem, maybe if it was due to the way it was talking to the server, but it still crashed the reader...
