We all win

I was an informed buyer only after making the purchase did i realize Nokia were selling me the device - they implied it had full PIM support and it was a computer - they were not openly saying teh phone and PIM function here are not yet on par with our other most basic OS the S40

This is the only computer i have used in the last 10 years that docent have a search function or an installable program with task distributions that can sync to outlook. Dont get me worn the the n900 is amassing, i just cant understand how it is so much of the basils can be overlooked. i want the n900 + skype + my Nokia 6100. (the 6100 being a 6 or 7 year old phone that can do more than my n900 when it comes to the PIM)

You are making my point for me.

Texrat, can this become a sticky with the title "B*tchin' goes here"

That way, if my fourth cousin wants to buy an n900, i can point him this way.

I'm in favor of such a thing, but I don't think the admin is.

Odds are this thread will get too noisy and wind up merged with another or closed.

I think that "whar" is better than "where"! More colorful, and it's been used in comic books often enough.

And the android port is still a work in progress. Maybe if you helped or something, we could make phone calls

This is just ridiculous. dj_steve is working very hard to port Android to the n900. How many android devices have the 2.1 update? All you can do is sit on your bloody computer and b*tch about how you can't make calls yet. Maybe its because he is still working on it, i.e. it is not ****ING done.
Look at this. It is plenty fast. It is responsive. Let him finish his work before you dismiss it as "slow and is not that efficient"

Some of y'all on this forum are just impossible. Get a grip or something. Quit yer b*tchin'

this is just ridiculous android for n900? android os is designed for phones that has hardware specifically designed for that OS. I do appreciate his efforts on this project but still thinks that before he made it perfect to work with n900, it would be ages and n900 is left behind by several devices out there.

you will notice that there are more and more devices coming out to proclaim theirs is the best phone/internet tablet. what I am trying to point out here is after 8months .... I cannot see any major improvements at all. at the moment we are still the best i browsing. but what i want to see is this tablet/phone competetive enough to be compared with android and other os. to be honest I think its only geeks that appreciates this phone much.

Android OS built specifically for the hardware? Pretty much the only hardware difference between the droid and the n900 is the screen, they have the same processor, similar qwerty keyboard and ram. The N900 should have no problem whatsoever running Android, except you wont be able to pinch to zoom.

I too have been flirting with the idea of ditching the n900 (and nokia after 10 years) and gettin a desire or incredible, but the community of maemo and what it can do is keeping me glued to the n900. If android gets ported, I wont even have to think about buying a new phone, if i get bored of Maemo I can switch to android and when I get bored of that I can switch back.

I actually think that Maemo is very intuitive... mind you, I've been around Maemo since OS2006 or so, so that's OS2006, 2007, 2008 (Maemo 4) and now Maemo5 - albeit different, they all seem rather intuitive to me.

Take the time to get into it. Who knows, you might like it. It's not as "easy" as my iPhone 3GS, nor is it easy like Android - both of those are very easy to get into, almost no learning curve... but that's about it.

Regardless... you should be more explicit about what you did and did not like. Who knows, other folks might be able to share tips that will enhance your experience.

And if you decide to sell it, lemme know. I'm looking for an inexpensive N900.
