Opera Mobile On Screen Keyboard for Other Apps?
 

Firstly, please move if this is not in the appropriate forum.

Whoever has used Opera Mobile for Maemo will probably agree with me that the on screen keyboard (particularly in portrait mode) is awesome. I don't know how to programme but it's not jargon to me either so what I want to ask is; how possible would it be to migrate the on screen keyboard used in Opera Mobile on to other software and even as the default OSK for the operating system?

The maemo's on-screen keyboards sucks since n770. They're slow and not very usable.

Since you mention the n770 (sic) you are obviously aware of the stylus keyboard. So, are you serious? Have you seen a better virtual keyboard on any device/OS?

I was thinking of the same thing.... only if the portrait keyboard could be used for microb, conversations, and email.... would be a treat! Being a total noob, I can only dream on :) But if someone would take up the project, wou!d be more than willing to donate....

I love operas keyboard, if the keys were slightly bigger vertically then it would be a perfect replacement for the main keyboard

I agree, the on-screen keyboards are great in Opera. Can't believe how easy it is to type. It's really fast, without delays or jitters.

The automatic ".com, .net" etc. fill-out isn't bad either.

I love Opera!

Has anybody just asked the guys from Opera? I'd KILL to have this as my main on-screen keyboard at all times.

I hate to sound negative because I really like Nokia, but given the track record, it's more likely someone will hack opera's keyboard into maemo, or create a clone. I mean they're leaving it up to us to make a decent sms application.

It'll have to be cloned. Opera is not open source.
