Contacts Avatars?
 

Well i am quite new to N900 as you will learn in a second when i will ask my question (hat might seem a bit insignificant).

I loaded my Skype account and it imported all my contacts.. (do have too many of them) but what it didnt load is their avatars.. only after a contact changes his avatar it appears on my end (device)

any suggestions? solutions?

hmm only suggestion (prob wont work) is to go to edit their profile and click on the current avator and see if ib the list of default avators their skype pic is there.

this worked for me when i was merging contacts after i had manually assigend them photos. following this process allowed me to choose between my manual avator or their avator loaded from gtalk.

i understand your problem is different but thought id give a suggestion.

yea i know what you are talking about.. but its a bit different.. it just wont load an avatar unless they do some change.. also a thing that worked is removing the contact and asking the contact to remove me as well and than ask for "auth" but if he ask for the auth the avy wont show again.. i must be the one asking for auth

You might check out an app called Hermes. It goes out and pulls info from FB and Twitter for your contacts, avatars included.

FB and Twiter is something i dont use.. i'll try it out but i read about it and dont think it will pull in avatars from Skype (msn and others did refresh their avies)

this happened alot to me...i dont know if it was luck or a solution....but after it loaded my contacts....i changed my avatar and signed out....signed in via my comp and then signed in on the n900 as well.....then signed out of both and back to the n900...it loaded them up....

tried it and did not work if anyone got any more suggestions or someone else who got the same problem ?

some updates: i made a backup of my contacts just in case and deleted all contacts.. and deleted Skype account and remade the account all contacts came back now again without avatars at all (even the small amount that updated due to contacts changing their avays) later i restored backup and i got back that small amount of avatars to their place alongside those contacts but i noticed something else... I exported the backup folder i created to my pc and using total commander i browsed through just to find that all the avatars are backed up for all the contacts i got on skype even 3-4 for each (different avays they use over time) so it is there just not on the contacts themselves

is there anyone who understands in these things?

anyone? it really bugs me.. i mean i see that the avatars are there (files in contact backup) but it wont attach them to the contacts themselves and if ill have to do it manually to 886 contacts ill be damned :P
