Decent FTP App for N900
Just got my new N900, and am looking to load it up with some basic apps. Having trouble finding a good FTP client though. I've tried:
So does anyone have a recommendation for a good FTP Client, or ways to work around the problems above? |
Re: Decent FTP App for N900
AFAIK there's no other FTP client programs out there for the N900 so far... I use Gftp, and it's not that bad... especially that I use it with a stylus..

Re: Decent FTP App for N900
Best thing in my experience is installing easy debian and using its gftp-gtk package.

As for scp/winscp, I was specifically looking for an FTP solution, but I guess I can fall back to that. I was hoping for something that I could operate from the phone rather from the PC (as I believe is the case with winscp). |
Re: Decent FTP App for N900
I use MicroB to download from my private FTP. I usually dont need to upload.
gFTP is not good at all. The scroll is way to tricky to handle. |
Re: Decent FTP App for N900
There is also (somewhat limited but does the job) ftp support in Midnight Commander.

Re: Decent FTP App for N900
*ALL* these years, and I didn't know that the Midnight Commander did all that: not only FTP, but Samba, rsync, etc. Truly amazing--color me impressed, especially, again, that I literally just found this out now and I'm a very long time Slackware user and devotee!
Anyway, once you understand it, MC's pseudo Virtual File System (VFS) that it sets up internally for these connections is a lot like syncing, makes sense, and is pretty easy to use (though not as easy as a command line in this case). Since MC has 2 virtual terminals inside it, I just brought up my laptop in one, found my local files in the other, and just did a simple move--very easy once you understand it. I think I'll be using MC a lot more often now, and not just on the N900... Mike |
