symbian as office 2007 apps,
N8 will have flash lite 4 which will at least allow flash 10.1 videos to be played.
symbian is so under rated b/c the UI and nokia in past putting it on old hardware but theres no mobile OS that can come close under the hood including maemo

It appears. some apps are screwing with the N900. just read Chemists post. Just one example is this bug https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5894 , now this bug is caused by N900 apps. the only way to fix the desktop from hanging is to open xterm and type 'sudo gainroot, killall hildon-desktop, killall hildon-home'. restarting your device wont fix the issue. Good reason to delay the PR1.2 release?? maybe invest more resources on us old timmer maemo 5 users??

the thing is i dont care. this is the risk i took from taking on a early OS and open source. i love it. its like an old carbi car which i can work on. break it and fix it

To pick up on Texrats advice...

Please be aware of that HK version is some kind of different to the global version so there maybe other things they have to look at for the global one.

Asking again and again for explanations wont help as you wont get much more than already released.

Nokia has a demand of working PRs so it might take some time to fullfill this. As already mentioned in the email, there are some bugs not easy to track down. I am currently investigating in hildon-home hickups which take about 2-5 days to occure so to determine which of the 3rd party programs is causing it takes weeks of testing already. He wrote about longterm issues and maybe they got a way to get something like home mess up in a shorter time but still it will take weeks to test and fix.

If you like to have your phone broken or bricked because of a leaked PR's RC this is ok with me. Maybe there is no closed community test for PR1.2 as Nokia does not want to take the risk yet. Have you thought of that they may bricked devices while testing and decided to not release yet?

Please chill out on the PR1.2 topic. We all have to wait! Posting off-topic and Nokia requests all over the place doesn't help any one but keeps the moderators busy.

If developers make some shiny new apps in qt for the n8, can't they be ported to the n900?

I downloaded the Nokia Beta SDK a while ago and it looked like it was as easy as ticking a box

in the soon very soon future. all new symbian and Maemo and Meego and flipo nokia phones will run Qt. same apps accross the board. best idea nokia EVER had EVER

Yeah, but I'm still miffed at Nokia playing the planned obsolesces strategy very2 heavily in regards to the software component, even on Maemo devices.

Personally, I don't think I will consider Nokia for upgrades in the foreseeable future if there are no significant changes in that area.

Yes ok we can overclock the 900 but thats not the answer as it would only burn out with time and not within the specs of the cpu and m/b design.
Time will tell but facts are there if you want to see them.

All we are talking about here is the differences in general between the N8 and the N900 but as usual the fanboys of the N900 will jump in to try and defend a useless argument as it will get nowhere.
