Leaving Nokia for life if no Flash 10.1 for N900
Thatīs it folks!
Overall I have been very patient with the software support with the N900. Flash was one of the key elements for buying the device, not to mention the "soon to come Q2 Flash 10.1" promises... PR1.2 veery late... It seems Nokia does not care for Maemo nor N900 anymore. Compare with the iPhone: Software updates come for the older devices (aka OS 4 for 3GS). I have never liked Apple but Nokia does not even say whether 10.1 is even coming... At least Jobs says Flash is not coming! I feel like I have been sold a 550 hobby. Thank God there is the Android. At least Google understands the situation and does not bury devices under 6 months old. Give us the 10.1. We will not buy the next "Meego" for Flash 10.1 if you let us down with this one. Can we trust Nokia or not!?!?! Anyone else with me? |

I believe this is official, then. I shall "enjoy" my N900 while it lasts. After that the new generation of mobiles is here. And it will not be a Nokia I will be buying.
I think its great that some people from Nokia bother giving us snippets of information. However Nokia should step up a little more since N900 has just been released in eastern countries (India etc.). That means the markets are not dead and potential buyers still exist. |

I think its more to do with the fact Maemo is now finished or close to ending its life. Meego is the new OS and since the N900 will eventually get meego (http://maemoarena.com/2010/05/meego-...on-this-month/), it seems more logical to concentrate all their efforts into ensuring meego gets the best flash support since I bet most of us will upgrade once a useable form of meego is released.
I do agree it sucks not to have an upgrade for Maemo, but I'd rather get a better working Meego. |

go google for flash 10.1

Re: Leaving Nokia for life if no Flash 10.1 for N900
The reason why is simple... MeeGo will become their targeted OS and all resources will be made to ensure it succeeds and not the 4th step out of 5 steps Nokia N900/Maemo 5.
Simply put, early adopters, be happy with what you got. You might not get anything else from Nokia, the MeeGo will be Nokia's future in regards to Linux based phones. |

I will put all my hope for Meego. Letīs hope it will stand some chance against Android. N900 is a great device and I will abandon it only if I have to: open source rocks.
Still, the next device is a mystery. I do not want a device that is totally "complete" and closed source (like mobile OSX). But the other hand I do not want an operating system that is dead either... |
